Samsung building second-generation Nexus 10

Samsung building second-generation Nexus 10
With little attention, Android boss Sundar Pichai has confirmed that Samsung is building the second-generation Nexus 10 tablet.

Samsung built the first-generation device, which was released in November of last year.

It is unclear what will be updated in the tablet. Last year's model had the extremely high-end 2560x1600 resolution, which will likely not be topped.

Under the hood, however, there is room to work. The first device featured a 32nm dual-core Samsung A15, which had some heating issues. The new device will certainly have a quad-core processor, but from whom is the question. Among the competition are Samsung's own Exynos 5420 (which is actually an octo-core), the Snapdragon 800 or even the Tegra 4.

Google will need to come with something impressive for the next Nexus 10, as the tablet was never too popular with consumers.

If they put microsd card input then I'll buy this. All I want in a tablet is a high resolution 10" screen with microsd. Sadly... there really isn't anything on the market that's new(relevant) that matches these requirements.

It wasn't impressive because the price point was ridiculously too high for what was under the hood. Also doesn't help that Samsung likes to dumb down hardware specs for North American market and charge the same MRSP or higher for devices with much more power shipped in Asian and Euro markets. For that reason alone, I stopped buying Samsung products, not because they are bad, but because they feel the need ever since the Apple lawsuit fiasco to (fuck NA market over), for lack of a better term. When the pricing becomes more reasonable, then I'll consider their devices again.

Yeah flyingpen, I agree. If Google, Samsung, Apple, and Amazon would get their heads out of my wallet, they'd realize that we need more storage on their tablets. I wanted to buy the Nexus 10 or the Fire 8.9 HD, but without the slot, I didn't. Instead, I just bought the Nook HD+ with Google Play, because it has a 1080p screen and microSD slot, and it was only $179. I couldn't be happier. I have 96GB of storage on it now and I was barely able to load up all 8 Harry Potter movies in HD for my kids last week on vacation. If I had tried to stream them from the Amazon or Google Cloud, I wouldn't have been able to afford the vacation because Verizon would have charged me several hundred dollars to use their 4G. And forget about using the hotel WiFi. I have never been able to get more than 2Mb speed on a hotel WiFi. So why is it that these guys think we can afford to stream everything? Put a dang SD slot in your tablet, or better yet - 2 of them so that I can really use your tablet like I really want to use it! Then I'd buy one of them.
