Sony has sold 5.3 million PlayStation 4 consoles
Sony has revealed that the company has sold 5.3 million PlayStation 4 consoles as of February 8th, well ahead of its projections.

Earlier in the year, the company said it hoped to sell 5 million units by the end of the quarter, but it has easily surpassed that milestone with over 5 weeks to spare.

Next week, the console goes on sale in Sony's backyard, Japan, which should lead to another large boost in sales. So far, the console is available in North America and across Europe and Latin America.

Microsoft has seen strong sales for their new Xbox One, as well, but it appears to be falling back significantly with unit sales at 3.4 million (most recent estimate).

Nintendo's Wii U, released in November 2012 giving it a one year head start, has only seen 5.7 million unit sales, with the PS4 expected to surpass it next week.

I feel like I should have put money down when I told all of my friends the PS4 would easily outsell the One. I think I was the only one out of like 8 of us that thought so.

As far as next-gen consoles go it is clearly the better value...that may be like saying that a $50 bottle of water is a better value than a $100 bottle of water or a $45 1/2 half-empty bottle of water...but still.

Well their thinking was a $40 bottle of water was no where near as good as a $50 bottle of Super Water (TM).

Who really cares about console sales? I just want good games... which both systems don't have yet!

    LOL

@Chubby... Ass Creed IV: Black Flag is a great game... I think on the PS4 it's in 1080p.

You are correct Jem ACIV is 1080p. There are only 2 titles that are sub 1080 on the PS4 currently. Here's a comparison list ~ http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/02/17/...ub-1080p-games/

Interesting. I notice that any predictions that the Xbone might at least get faster framerates with lower res are dashed. I do note their "exclusives" (PC anyone?) look ok.

Quote:We’ll have to wait and see if Microsoft will manage to improve the situation as the generation progresses, because for now they seem to be at a clear disadvantage in terms of raw power. Good luck with that...

    :)
