Sims 2 Ultimate now available for free via Origin

Sims 2 Ultimate now available for free via Origin
EA has made their old Sims 2 Ultimate Collection available for free via Origin until July 31st.

The game launched in 2004 from original developer Maxis and had expansion packs and other DLC released until 2008. In 2009, there was the release of Sims 3 and later this year will see the release of Sims 4.

If you want the game, EA has provided instructions:

Because you're a passionate The Sims 2 player, we're making The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection available free of charge to download to your Origin library. To add the game, just follow these steps:

Note, if you already have another version of The Sims 2 installed, make sure you backup your The Sims 2 saves and uninstall your version of The Sims 2, either automatically or manually, before following these directions.

Start by downloading and installing Origin. If you already have Origin you can skip to step 3.
Not an Origin member? Create a free Origin Account to get in the game.
Launch Origin and log into your Origin Account.
From the 'Games' tab in the Origin menu, select 'Redeem Product Code' and enter the code
I-LOVE-THE-SIMS

If you're already an Origin member, you can also redeem your code online. Just visit the Origin code redemption page and log in to your Origin Account. Then enter I-LOVE-THE-SIMS in the 'Product Code' field.

    How lame-ass.

Good luck... if you don't get on in time I would complain politely and ask for the special offer to still be honoured. Maybe email them now and tell them that you can't get on as proof you did try.

That redemption code was not valid when I tried it (August 8, 2014). I didn't notice that it was only good until July 31, 2014.
