'Destiny' leads PlayStation 4 to a record month
According to Sony, the blockbuster game 'Destiny' helped move consoles, with PS4 sales tripling month-over-month.

"Destiny broke PlayStation Network sales records across several categories, taking the top spot for pre-orders, day one sales, and week one sales," added the consumer electronics giant. "One month after the game's launch, engagement among PlayStation fans continues to soar, as Destiny is the most-played title on the PlayStation 4 system with 125 million hours of gameplay."

Without providing figures, Sony says PS4 had its biggest month of the year in September, and it remained the top console in the U.S. although the Xbox One also likely saw a boost from the game.

'Destiny' came with exclusive branding for PS4 fans, including exclusive features and Sony is also offering a Destiny bundle that includes a white PS4 and dual shock controller.

    Well let's see here:

    Microsoft Xbox One:

    1. controllers that fail or lose sync.

    2. no upgradable hard drive.

    3. includes digital copies only with the console so if the game sucks you can't trade it in for cash.

    4. no backwards compatibility.

    5. Isp fees on digital games (sunset overdrive first game to use this and then call of duty awf will be next)

    6. 3 gig's of ram

    Sony's ps4:

    1. upgradable hard drive

    2. firmware 2.00 due out in a few weeks restores music playback to the console

    3. real game disk's included in there bundles no digital

    4. controllers that don't lose sync unless assembled wrong in china

    5. 3 months of playstation plus for free

    6. 8 gig's of ram

    honestly what would you choose

You had me wondering about that one for a second then I realized you were talking about the bundled games. My first thought was that you were making reference about MS and their "no used games / no trade in" policy which I thought they had done away with.

    What he said, please explain.

easy i can explain this look at the cover for the sunset overdrive edition xbox one the front of the box states isp fees apply because in order to get your free game you have to have xbox live gold in order to download it kinda hard to access your network on live to download a game if you don't have it.

this is why digital version's where included with the console to force you to sign up for xbox live gold at 50.00 a year so your game is free if you want to pay 50.00 for it

where sony lets you access the network download your game and you don't have to have playstation plus

    18.10.2014 11:33 #5

  • bhetrick

Ah, I see. It's not your actual isp, MS is just referring to there Gold service.

I remember on the 360 I was able to start signing up for LIVE Gold, then cancel out of it and after a screen or 2 of me confirming my declining it MS finally offered a month for free.

Isn't that possible with the One? That would at least get you your downloads for free.

But hey, either way, that is screwed up. MS selling a bundle yet you still don't get what you're paying for unless you pay more for their online service.

yep it's messed up this is why smart consumers are not buying the xbox one because they want upgradability something the ms doesn't want you to ever do.

i noticed where i live at xbox one's are everywhere on store shelves but shocker i can't find a ps4 anywhere i guess the time of ms is now apron them and they are failing big time

The Xbox One and PS4 both have 8 GB Ram total. The Xbox One uses 3GB for the OS, leaving 5GB for games, while the PS4 uses 3.5GB for the OS, leaving 4.5GB for games.

While the Xbox One does not currently offer backwards compatibility, neither does the PS4.

It's simple to upgrade the hard drive on either system, although I believe it voids the warranty on the Xbox One.

Where I live, there are plenty of both on the shelves at any store you go to. Given the inaccuracy in your other statements, I suspect they are also both on the shelves where you live too.

Certainly, the PS4 has sold better than the Xbox One, and preferring the PS4 is a valid point of view. But making up facts to support your arguments just makes you look silly.

As for the "smart consumers," I think I'll take my advice about smart consumers from someone who can spell, punctuate, and understand basic grammar.

I'd just add that the people I know with PS4's are less than impressed by the range of games currently available & the step up from PS3 is not exactly a vast & impressive leap in the eyes either.

I expect some XB1 owners feel similar - both consoles being very similar - but this usual pro-Sony pi**ing match over the 2 biggest console brands really is such a bore.

Don't recall needing a gold account to buy or download games you pay for inc bundled.however having a gold account gets you discounts some up to 75%

In the end however consoles are a joke, they're expensive for what you get & the games even more so unlike a pc which doesn't need to be the latest & greatest

At 200 a console its not that bad, I wait till its 250 or less. However the premium account BS for online dose suck but thats mostly a Xbox issue. Still a lack of BWC and general lack of quality has been driving me away from consoles..

Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Lets renegotiate them.

@Mega... I'm keen on the PS4 myself but I have to support SoTired here. You can still make a solid argument for the PS4 if you got your facts straight btw.

Not noticed that... I've heard good things about both consoles' line up of games. And I think the last remark parsimonious... it's early days anyway.

Actually look online the xbox one has 3 gig's of DDR3 Ram not 8 gig's this was posted month's ago

and you know what you should understand something when confined to a wheel chair and being disabled it's kinda tough to punctuate, and understand basic grammar so before you post such a comment make sure your not offending someone with a disability.

As I said there are better arguments. To wit:
    X1 has 8G of DDR3 vs PS4's 8G of DDR5 RAM!
PS4 has 50% more gfx cores than X1!
(Apart from that the CPUs are almost the same.)

The X1 has complex bespoke (custom) on-chip components to make up for this and hooray they tried but the upshot is best summed up in this post I made once:
    http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.c...comment-5938662

Again: NOT a refection of the exclusives available to each machine and how fun or great they are to play. The X1 has some undeniably good ones (as well as the PS4).

Sucks you're in a wheelchair buddy. Can't say I noticed anything glaringly bad about your grammar etc.... You should see Zippy's posts! LOL

Jemborg, just saying what I'm seeing, not trying to bash either console.

It seems to me at least that it's very clear from the specs (of both consoles) what each company have been up to, pretty much instant profitability in stark contrast to the prev gen & it's years of selling at a loss.

TV's being capped at a 1080p resolution max (for many years of any credible foreseeable future) make it inevitable that both consoles look much the same despite their very minor differences.

Neither am I. Though you know I don't consider their differences are as minor as you believe. Still, as you say, it may well come to pass though that we may not see that actually translate much to the games... except for Sony exclusives maybe.

I do see a lot of new PC games being optimized for the PS4... probably because they're so similar to program for. That would have part of Sony's strategy.
