The most downvoted comment in Reddit history made EA reconsider pricing
Electronic Arts, or EA, is one of the largest game developers in the world, and even though it sells more game than any other company, it has it's fair share of haters. EA like many other major developers are sometimes cutting corners, or even straight-up trying to milk the customers.

According to the gaming community, at least on Reddit, one of these instances was found earlier yesterday. On /StarWarsBattlefront subreddit a thread was created to discuss the horrific pricing of EA's Star Wars game franchise Battlefront.

Recently EA had announced new Darth Vader character to Battlefront II which could be attained by an in-game micro payment. Well, it just so happened that the price was far from micro at $80.

This lead to EA's customer support commenting on the thread, as EACommunityTeam, with explanations on why such a price would be appropriate. This included such things as to "provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment."

It appeared that the comment, claiming appreciation for candid feedback, wasn't received too well. In fact, it has been downvoted more than any other comment in Reddit history. Currently it stands at -683k points, approximately 660 000 more downvotes than the second least favorite comment in history.

Apparently the downvote tornado had some effect, and EA decided to drop the prices of top hero unlocks by 75%. This includes your favorite father and son combo, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.

Oh wow...something that is in the trailer only costs $20 extra on top of full price AND the season pass. Just spend a few hundred dollars and you get everything that should have been in the $60 game (well, everything other than the stuff they didn't bother to code because they couldn't find a way to sell it separately).

I think I'm done buying from the AAA for a while; I'll wait for this all to explode in their faces and knock them back to something like sanity...or at least for GOTY editions with $5000 worth of content to be available for $20. I honestly don't know if I should feel sorry for the people who go along with this and pay $20 for something that would have been free a year ago or if I should feel angry at them for supporting this. Either way, the whole AAA industry has gone to crap so bad that I'm even mad at Disney for licensing Star Wars to the worst of the offenders.

Its not just video games where this happens aka optional extra's.For instance a multifunction mig with no tig torch.Won't be long before when buying a new car you'll need to pay extra for the wheels you'll need to drive it

Instead of "You keep talking, we'll keep listening", EA's comment should have been "You keep paying, we'll keep milking ya."

Day late and dollar short. This was a brutally BLATANT attempt to screw us, the beloved consumer.

I ask you all, if a friend of yours came to a party at your house and tried to steal money or items from you........would ya let that prick back in and forgive? EA deserves the same treatment. No forgiveness for this........PERIOD. It's highly indicative of what their thought process is.......greed, greed and more greed in hopes of nobody raising an eyebrow.

F this world. This mentality is rampant and people want to bring kids into this world????..........aww Hell no!

I felt the same way about the X-box one, when Microsoft first announced it with all those anti-consumer features they had planned for it. I told myself right there that I would never own one even after they made the changes.

This just showed the true face of the company to me. I just can't believe anyone would buy their product after that.

Of course people did buy the Xbone though and people are also stupid enough to continue buying overpriced DLC for their games.

On top of all these rip-offs, it turns out the game is so broken it makes Bethesda look like a paragon of quality. I guess it makes sense...when you commit your entire staff to ripping off the players there is no one left to do bug testing, or to fix bugs that are so obvious that you need 100 takes to get 5 seconds of footage for the commercial. Of course, the game isn't actually done yet...they released it without an ending so they could force people to buy the season pass that costs almost as much as the game itself. (Side note...remember when season passes meant you got all the content...like buying a season pass was buying all the DLC content at once? I'm not even sure what a season pass is anymore...obviously it doesn't even cover launch day content, even if you also bought the gold edition of the base game).

I kind of like this; so often we see something that is great in some ways and terrible in others. This game is unambiguous; it is absolutely terrible in every way. It's like a pile of manure...with a bunch of radioactive waste mixed in so that you can't use it for farming...and you have to pay extra to get all of the pile, which doesn't even exist yet.
