PCSX Playstation emulator ported for XBox

PCSX Playstation emulator ported for XBox
Playstation (a.k.a. PSOne, PSX) have been a popular sport on PC’s for years and now first one of the seems to have found it’s way to the PC-based console Xbox.
  • Emulates Playstation
  • Memory Card manager (select from 10 memory cards)
  • Save states (LTRIGGER+BLACK and LTRIGGER+WHITE)
  • Cheat code searching
  • Gameshark code-compatible
  • Gameshark cheat code database with codes for over 1700 games
  • Remappable PSX buttons
  • Throttle/speed-up
  • Supports BIN files or GZIP'd BIN files. (GZIP is not the same as ZIP)
  • Background Thanks to CandyISO for the background image
  • True Type Font Thanks to CandyISO for this PSX font
  • MP3 support
  • XPort's Configurable PlayThing

Playstation emulator might be something that would make it easier for a PSX owner to choose Xbox instead of Sony’s PS2. This sure should make Bill Gates happy and this way they won’t be facing the legal issues that Sony launched on BleemCast (PSX emulator for Sega DreamCast)

I think the PS2 emulator isn't even close due to Sonys closed structure. But emulating XBox on PC shouldn't be that difficult as XBox is based on PC hardware & MS Windows.

I totally disagree. There are a couple good PS2 emulators for Win32, Linux, and even BeOS. Why couldn't this be ported to the XBox?

Bc the xbox is not powerful enough. It even has trouble with a few n64 games!

ps2 emulation is so far from being possible thats its just better to buy a cheap ps2 refurbished from game stop and copy games on to cdrs and trick ur ps2 than to waste time trying to figure crappy emulation software. if you want a good guide to ccopying ps2 discs go 2==http://www.totse.com/en/hack/software_cracking/163084.html

Also why was the default setting made this way in the first place?

Anyone shed some light on this?

Don't Change the destination 'D:' When using the emulator it's not your DVD Drive. The emulator is setup to use 'D:' as a parent directory. Search the internet for the latest "scph1001.bin' and paste a copy into the emulators directory on your xbox. Mine is 'F:\apps\emulators\'Name of the Playstion Emulator'\bios'
I'm new to this stuff too, but a little 'Trial & Error' and pretty soon stuff works!

I've found most games don't run very well. Still looking for answers!

Yep Exactly as the previous poster said and you googling for that file is so easy. I aslo find a lot of games do't work on it but the ones that do make it worthwhile to keep it. I only have a few games to work with but heres a list of mine:

    Working Not working

    Dune2000 Final Fantasy 8
    Driver Dino Crisis
Dino Crisis 2 Res Evil 2
    Lego Racers Driver 2
Discworld VRally (emulated the PSX menu! God knows why)
    Reel Fishing(almost)

    Anyone got a bigger list?

isn't is funny how here it is a year later, and you were saying how there will never be a ps2 emulator for the xbox and they now have one, and it works flawlessly.

The PS2 emu (PCSX2) for PC isn't even fully completed/working after 8 years on some of the highest end machines. Don't even think about porting it to the Xbox. XD

    360, questionable.

ahhh riceboy.. to quote Father Dougal... "Instead of a mouth it's got four arses"

No ps2 emulator on an xbox.. not now, not never.. Not enough power as the ps2 believe it or not runs 128 bit code. That's why the pc based emulator writers are struggling.. when 128/256 bit architectures become available this may change.

The same really goes for the xbox.. it may seem like a simple machine, but it isn't a standard coppermine cpu. It uses a custom instruction set and a lot of M$ "trick code" to get the apparent speed and power. As soon as you start trying to use one as a pc you realise it's a pretty low end lump of hardware.. My p3 600 outstrips it easily for general desktop use.. All emulator work seems to have stopped.. the consoles are so cheap, easily modded and very reliable that there really is no need for people to spend the time and effort on writing emulators. My dreamcast emu has been available on a well known emulators site for 6 months now.. total downloads? 5 (it could be because it is for linux) I'm not porting it to anything else because of the lack of interest and zero donations.

The xpcsx ps1 emulator runs passably for most games IF you make the img files properly, but like all emulators some games just will not work.

As for the 360.. well.. we need a way to run unsigned code first.. still waiting on that one. I have heard a few rumours, but nothing I'm going to discuss because there hasn't been enough proof yet.

As usual newbs should think before spouting.. totally pwned ;) I can't believe how ancient topics like this can be dug up and opened again.. it was 2003 ffs!!

Last time I heard (late 2009) the Xbox 360 was about 5 times more powerful and fast as the then most powerful Gaming PC. Xbox 360 wouldn't have a prob running PS2 emulators.
