RIAA sues Puretunes' parent company

RIAA has sued a company that owns the Spanish website, Puretunes. According to RIAA, the site that launched in May this year, sold unauthorized copies of music but claimed it had acquired licenses for the music it sold.

Puretunes sold unrestricted music downloads with various kinds of pricing arrangements -- most popular ones were 8 hours worth of downloading for $3.99 and 48 hours of downloading for $9.99. Site disappeared in June and hasn't been heard of since. At the time of it's was launched, the company claimed that it had acquired full licensing rights to all of the tracks it offered on its website through various Spanish licensing houses.

Now, according to RIAA, this simply wasn't the case. RIAA spokesperson said: "It's bad enough that Puretunes was selling music illegally--it's even worse that they tried to perpetrate a fraud on the public by claiming that they were a legitimate business."

RIAA is seeking damages for copyright infringements made during Puretunes' short window of operation. Also, some customers who paid the downloading fees in advance were left without refunds or any replies from the company whatsoever.

Since the RIAA is a US based company and I dont hear about any other music regulation associations trying to regulate, then why dont any ONE of the other couple hundred countries agree with the USA's policies? Are they just too afraid to speak up since the US has Nukes? Nope, it is because the US is too busy watching the dollar rather than the people like their basis for government is supposed to be on.

If I were Ben Franklin, I would be trying to get my picture off the $20 bill...and having another beer of course.

Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

" RIAA sues Puretunes' parent company " is what i see for a topic ... the RIAA is based here ... it's a collective of many labels ... and being that the US has seems to push harder on copyright laws than most ... it would make sense it would be here ... don't mistake what I'm saying .. I find the RIAA the mmost vile thing on the planet at the moment -- along withe the band that ,in my eyes ,initiated this BS. However, wth is "Nope, it is because the US is too busy watching the dollar rather than the people like their basis for government is supposed to be on. " supposed to mean ,and what does it all have to do with yer topic. Rather than point the finger and spout "Damn the US -- they lining they pockets" , why not write your political organization/senate/house/parliment or whatever and rally others to do the same, unless you live in a country that doesn't allow that, because I'm tired of people pointing the finger and not doin anything to stop the madness.

RIAA this....RIAA that.... they're really pissing me off. I mean, the musicians already get wads of cash! But then I suppose if they get paid thousands a month by EACH artist, they have to do some pointing.

When you are on your deathbed, you will wonder, "Did I waste my life? Was it worth spending all that time on that?" Do not despair, no one has wasted their life. After all, you can only waste something if you throw it away. And you can't throw life away.
