IBM to power next generation Xbox

IBM to power next generation Xbox
Microsoft and IBM today announced that the next Xbox will use IBM's processors instead of Intel's. No exact details have been announced, but IBM PowerPC processor technology has been licensed for use in both Xbox consoles and services based around the console.

The next generation Xbox will now contain different graphics chip and CPU from the current unit -- this summer Microsoft and ATI inked a deal which makes ATI the provider for graphics chips on the next Xbox. The agreement was a huge blow on Nvidia, and this latest deal must be equally devastating to Intel.

"We plan to deliver unprecedented and unparalleled entertainment experiences to consumers while creating new engines of growth for the technology and entertainment industries," said Robbie Bach, senior vice-president of Microsoft's home and entertainment division.

It is more than likely that the new Xbox will be much more than just a gaming console. The same, however, can be said about the next Playstation as well.

Hmmm..... I hope it comes out the same time as PS3 otherwise M$ will lose the console war yet again. I'll probably wait until the good games start rolling out and then get the XBOX Next or PS3. If PS3 has any FF games or DMC games, then I'll get it straight away.

eX-BOX 2 will still suck just like the first one as long as the Micro$ft name is behind it!

you couldn't have put it much better than
that. Despite the superior power of the
xbox, the ps2 is still the dominating
leader. I think its rather simple - there's
NO good games for xbox, and everyone
hates microsoft for trying to take over the
    video game industry.

No good games eh? Halo, KOTOR just to name two fucking games that are totally awesome. And what about the graphics? The PS2 would just sit down and cry at XBOX's graphical muscle.

I don't think there going to take over the video game industry. I like the fact that there is more competition. This means there's more types of games for people to choose from and everything is cheaper. :)
I bought both systems anyway because I like FF games but also like Halo and certain sports games which there are also a lot of on the Xbox. Honestly I still like my pc gaming better then both.

Also I like the fact that the Japs don't have full throttle control of the gaming insustry anymore. Damn Japs........

Two words and 1 number, and some punctuation: Halo 2, Fable.

Everyone is entitled to their own true opinion. Either respect that or don't.
