Nero 6.6 Reloaded

Nero 6.6 Reloaded
According to the respected German magazine CHIP, Ahead Software is about to release a major Nero Burning ROM update. The new version is advertised as Nero 6.6 Reloaded, but in this case the sequel is expected to be better than the original.

Some highlights of the new features:
  • Short Lead Outs - save recording time and adds 12mb storage capacity
  • Function to verify the media for errors after the burning process.
  • Nero Vision Express 3
  • Nero PhotoSnap - a new tool for creating slide shows.
  • New SmartStart 2 quick launch bar
  • Nero MediaHome, a media server software

  • So the Reloaded seems to offer a bunch of interesting improvements, as well as totally new components. Release is expected around mid October, with a price tag of €70.

Wouldn't they be more likely to call this Nero 7.0 and not offer free upgrades to Nero 6 users?

A hefty price tag for some "new" features that seem useless.

I like the media errors and Short Lead Outs, but if that's the best of the new features, I'll stick to my Nero 6 thankyou very much.

We've got a number of new features coming in Nero 6.6, but not enough to make it a Nero 7. At least not in our opinion and I'm sure many others as well. :-)

I know this one of the most popular Burning Software around, but when I used an earlier version I could not use it to burn files with names in a unicode compatable character set. It's a real pain having to rename many files just to be able to burn them.
I keep checking the changelogs for the latest version of Nero looking for this feature, but it's never there. Apparently there aren't so many users burning files with names outside of a basic local character set to warrant this feature.

Does anyone here know of a burning program that can burn files with unicode-compatable file names?

I too, would have to agree that, for the pricetag attached, I'd hope to see a few more useful options to justify the price. If it just add's NVE 3, a SmartStart 2 Quicklauch and more slideshow software, I'll have to go with Toiletman and stick with my Nero 6.

      Hi Birkirb,

If we get enough users requesting a feature, then it's easier for me to push forward a new feature request. But currently we do not get many End Users, and no OEM's requesting the Unicode Compatable character set.

      And BlkPnthr,

If you have Nero 6, then you get a free upgrade to Nero 6.6. For those who do not have Nero 6, the price remains the same for Nero 6.6 as it does for Nero 6. No changes in the price for new users.

      And Vietorisz,

You need to start a new thread to address your issues. We don't want to 'mix' the threads to such a degree. But I'll be glad to assist you once you start a new thread on your issues.

      Regards,

      @vietorisz:
As ccampbell said, you need to start a new thread for your problem. It has nothing to do with this one.

well any update is welcome i guess but as they say on doom9.org
"German PC mag Chip has a preview of Nero 6.6. It contains an improved VisionExpress app that supports a lot of input formats (even DVD-VR and (S)VCD), but the most important information is probably what it does not contain: the 2nd generation of their MPEG-4 NeroDigital solution - the H.264 (AKA MPEG-4 AVC) codec is still missing in action."

seems a bit strange to announce this "reloaded" thing when the most talked about feature of the last 3 months is still not ready

Hey guys I think any free upgrade (if you already got it) is a good thing. I use Nero vision express alot to create dvds from AVI files which it does brilliantly. I am also looking forward to the "verify" option as it is annoying when you create a dvd for someone and you don't find out that it is stuffed till they watch it much later.

put this with shrinkDVD and you need absolutely nothing else!

More features for the price?????? Are you kidding or what? Add DVDDecrypter and you can just about do everything possible in audio and video.

This version of NVE 3.0 is supposed to accept .VOB files as one file instead of broken into 18 Mbyte files. I copy old tapes to DVD using a stand alone DVD recorder (Panasonic DVD-EMR50). Using the old version, of you import the .VOB files you get an annoying break every minute or so, where it expects a transition. This version corrects that. I was having to kludge things using Recode.

Everytime i try to burn a dvd on the fly it always does a simulation first no matter how many times i've burnt at that speed before. why does this simulation keep happening as it's only supposed to do it the first time. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

      thanks.
