MS expects $100 million first day sales for Halo 2

MS expects $100 million first day sales for Halo 2
Microsoft estimates that the first day sales of Halo 2 will reach $100 million. The game went on sale around the world on Tuesday.

1.5 million units of the game were sold before the launch, which already adds up to $78 million. The "regular version" of the game costs $49.99, while a Limited Edition, with custom case and making-of DVD is available for $54.99.

Some analysts expect Halo 2 to sell over 10 million units -- half of those already in November. Halo, which currently holds the all time best seller title for Xbox, has sold 5 million units to date.

And they were worried the leaked copy would hurt sales. *sigh*

Wow, 100 million. That should almost cover the money Microsoft is spending on marketing Halo 2.

Well seriously, they really seem to want this game to sell. TV ads, full-page ads in daily magazines, advertisement in movie theatres...

Hands down absolutely amazing, and probably one of the best fps games I've ever played. XBOX Owners, get this or you're not worthy of owning a XBOX. Get Live too while you're at it! Of course, November 16th might change everything =D

Half Life 2 and Vampires: Bloodlines... *screams*

If they didn't work on Halo 3 someone up there, would be a bit mental. =)

    Hey, guys.

How much would a game like "Halo 2" cost to develop?

    13.11.2004 09:40 #9

  • Toiletman

I don't know for sure, but high-profile games like this might need from 12 million - 25 million dollars to develop.

No one here knows yet, so all the answers you might get are most likely just rumours.

I doubt we´ll hear anything about the next Halo for awhile. I guess it´s possible they´ll have that as the main launch title for the next XBox, but it seems a bit unlikely.

Maybe in the second year, seeing as XBOX 2 is supposedly coming out in 2006. I hope Dark Sector will be XBOX 2's "Killer Launch App", it looks great.

Am I wrong or was Dark Sector supposed to be out for the PC as well?

Hmm... I think so too, but maybe it will be out on the XBOX first. i.e. Halo.
