The Lightning UK! was approach by a "certain company", and he decided to choose the easy way, and give it up. Quite understandable actually, facing the legal guns of the movie industry is a bit too much for anyone.
What started as a bit of fun, putting a GUI around some existing code, turned into something that I can only describe as ‘part of me’ – yes, I know that’s sad ;-) As I"ve recently been made aware (by a letter, hand delivered to my door, last Tuesday), due to some law that was changed back in October 2003, circumventing copy protection isn"t allowed.Unfortunately DVD Decrypter was developed as closed source, while offered as freeware. It seems that the great application really is now without a developer, while if the source would have been open others could have continued the effort. On the other hand, the last version(s) were very good, there are many download sources for the software and it will serve well as it is for quite some time.
The domain is to be directed to the "certain company". Doom9 is at least currently hosting the last v3.5.4.0 version. Go grab it, if you already haven't.
