Sony PSP = PlayStation Pr0n?

The basic human needs have a steady demand. That's an unavoidable fact - we drink, we eat, we occasionally visit the toilet, and we have to desire to mate with the opposite sex. The online adult entertainment quickly boomed in the 90's, and quickly became a billion dollar business while many other "dot.com wonders" struggled.

Now think Sony. They got the new Playstation Portable, a.k.a. PSP, out and they have a desire to make the compact UMD, the Universal Media Disc, a widely adopted standard for portable media. What do to achieve this? They sign up with an adult entertainment company to release their top titles on the UMD.

Don't laugh. If Sony truly wants UMD to become the standard in portable media storage, adult videos could be a big help.



The videos, published by hmp and Glay'z (explicit adult content), will debut next month. Prices range from 1,925 to 3,800 yen (about $18 to $35). Though other UMD videos have been region-coded, the back-of-the-package artwork for the Glay'z videos suggests that they will work in any PSP machine regardless of region.

  What makes the PSP any different from portable DVD players in this regard? Or is the PSP only for children?
  
  The porn industry is huge. Free porn all over the net and yet still large porn studios are flourishing. Personally, I think it's about time the mainstream pulled their heads out of you-know-where and recognized this industry for what it is. A legitamate industry that has a significant following, giving them a lot of influence.

  i know this will probably set everyone off...but...if you think about it...at least someone is willing to give the psp a shot at bunch of releases(even though they are not the greatest launches in the world).....but someone is making blank umd so these companies can make these disc...so hopefully in the future these disc will be available to the general public...i don't give a f*ck about the porn industry i would just like some blank umds.... :)

  Well i can see MONEY/UMD part of this all, makes perfect sense. But it is still odd that porn will be available to view on this gaming console. Given i've once had the paris hilton video on my Gabe Boy SP, it didn't get there by any legal means.

  I think not! I don't HAVE to buy every game or movie that comes out for the PSP. But the fact is the more popular and versital the PSP becomes the better for all of us it becomes, as users we get more movies, games, accesories, and programs for our PSP that we do want. As internet users we owe a lot to the porn indusry for their help. We got faster internet access for all the porn movies and pics that people download I know I like my faster pings when gaming.
