Nokia releases TV -equipped phone

Finnish mobile phone giant, Nokia, released yesterday their digital TV (using DVB-H standard) -equipped phone, Nokia N92.

The phone is set to launch in second quarter of 2006 and uses, like other N-series phones do, Symbian S60 as its operating system. Nokia has been running DVB-H trials across Europe, most notably in Finland and UK and at least in Finland, the response from test group has been positive about the uses for TV-equipped phone.



The 3G TV phone also includes WLAN support, web browser and all the usual stuff you'd expect to find from a high-end Nokia phone nowadays. The screen of the device is 2.8-inch and uses 16M colors and has resolution of 320x240 (same as in VCD movies..).

According to Nokia, the phone will cost approximately 600 euros (excluding the hefty discounts operators give for new users with long contracts).

  Oh yes, I must run out and buy a half-dozen of these things Right Away! ............................. (not).
  
  I just can't bear the thought of being left stranded without all this proprietary high-tech stuff to impress all my neighbours with.
  
  But I'm a bit disappointed the unit doesn't come with a built-in satelitte dish, back-scratcher, homing device, swiss army-knife, key-chain, cigarette lighter and cheese grater!

  I saw ye in there (elsewhere) last night for the first time in a long time, updating us on that yummy SONY DRM stuff that likes to spy on us and run secret proggies in the background even when we are not playing their music cds! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee! What fun, eh?

  I think the camera was a nice touch, but beyond that, it is now getting ridiculous. These things are a nice luxury for 5 minutes before they turn into a necessity, a `must-have` for mobile users

  Exactly what would you rather buy a 50" Sony plasma or a 2.8" humm certainly not the Nokia, what happened to the good old days when a phone was for phoning and not watching or should i say trying to watch TV on mp3s yeah but TV get a grip, what next DVD writers in a phone :P
