San Francisco residents destroy PSP graffiti
As we reported yesterday that some Las Angeles residents were getting fed up of the Sony PSP graffiti popping up in U.S. cities, we thought we'd let you all see an article showing how some residents decided to deal with the graffiti; deface it. If people were really annoyed about this artwork because they didn't like how it looked, then how does spraying red paint on them and anti-Sony messages beside them make a better picture?

Sony has not officially endorsed the various pieces of art, and claimed to be unaware of such a campaign. However, claims on the Internet are that Sony paid for the characters to be painted onto public and private property as an advertising campaign. The characters were all very well created, and all were somehow playing with Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP) console.

Here is the source news article with some pictures of the defaced PSP art: http://www.secondaryscreening.net/static/archives/2005/11/index.html

I'm not surprised. I knew the graffiti itself would be vandalised or written over. Most graffiti out there meets the same fate

    true cheezy.

Marking over the faces with red paint is rather retarded. If they hate it so much, why not paint over it? Infact it just make the building look even worse.

How ironic. The residents destroy the grafitti because it's vandalism. Look at what the hell they are doing.

Vandalising the graffiti will only encourage more graffiti.

  • Reasons?

I'm more confident that Sony Haters (It is a very clear definition, and obviously a big crowd these days.) took it upon themselves to do it, not "residents" that were "fed up with the grafitti."

Hands down, this is a good point-- "If people were really annoyed about this artwork because they didn't like how it looked, then how does spraying red paint on them and anti-Sony messages beside them make a better picture?"

    I smell haters and fanboys.

LOL! That's pretty low for a corporate entitiy to subsidize the defacing of public property like that. I mean, don't they know about Moss Graffiti yet????? It's much nicer! ;-)
