NBC TV shows added to iTunes

Apple's iTunes music store is now offering another 11 TV shows on top of the five it has been offering since October. This new content comes from NBC Universal. They include popular shows like Law & Order, Knight Rider, Battlestar Galactica, The Office and The Tonight Show. Apple's iTunes service also offers downloads of music videos and some short animations from Pixar studios. Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, is also head of Pixar.

Pixar has a feature film agreement with Disney, which is probably the reason why Apple could strike a deal to offer shows Desperate Housewives and Lost through iTunes. NBC's agreement with Apple is now an indication that the entertainment industry is warming even more to selling its content on the Internet. "We are committed to helping viewers enjoy the wide breadth of our programs across an equally wide range of devices and distribution models," said Bob Wright, chairman and CEO of NBC Universal.



TV shows sell for $1.99 each from iTunes. You can watch them back on the video iPod. However, critics believe that Apple can't do the same for feature films, because they are far too long to watch on small portable screens. However, you could always watch the movies on your computer screens.

  I dont understand that comment the ipod has 30 GB and movies are at most 8 gb.

  Well I Think Thats Tight But I Have The 60Gb Ipod & Have 5 Movies Right Now & They Fit Good The Only Bad Part Would Be The Battery Life...If There Was A Way To Keep The Battery Life A Little Longer Then That WOuld Be The $hit

  You got that right cdman, how can people stand to watch or pay for a tv show when the size is 2 inches. Just watch the repeat during the summer or wait to purchase if it means that much. One more thing I wonder is about the inability to watch on your own tv when it was paid for. I just cant fall into this IPod craze others have.

  Apple always does me in. I bought an I-photo in Jan, they now replaced it with I-TV.
  I bought a Nano and it is all scratcheded.
  Undaunted, I have downloaded all the "desperate 'housewives"' and now the new NBC scifi, "Surface" which I love.
  I watch all these on my I Mac 17 and they display dine and the $1.99 seems fair to me. I also bought Jewel's Intuition Music and It and she are pleasing.

  Can you download these, and convert them to play on your dvd player ?
  
  What format are they? regular mpeg4 codecs? or are they proprietary codecs that can only be played via itunes?
