Walk of Game inductions included Carmack, Final Fantasy and Meier
Once again the annual Walk of Game ceremony in San Francisco was held at the Metreon and awarded pioneers of game industry and icons of gaming. This years inductees included John Carmack, the technical guru of id software and the creator of first-person shooters Doom and Quake, and Sid Meier, "Father of Computer Gaming" and creator of Civilization.

The Walk of Game induction ceremony was started off by two well-known characters, Sonic the Hedgehog and founder of Atari Nolan Bushnell. Bushnell soon introduced the host of the show, Adam Sessler from G4 TV.

In addition to earlier mentioned two pioneers had to wait their honouring as the first inductee was hugely popular real-time strategy game Starcraft by Blizzard. Second in line was Sid Meier and right after him the fantasy role-playing game Final Fantasy that has been turned into several sequels and movies.

The awarding ceremony continued with honouring a massive online role-playing game Everquest that has broke boundaries and as reported in Gamespot, Adam Sessler said "'Groundbreaking' is too easy a word". Before naming the last inductee was the turn for John Carmack to be on spotlight and the last but certainly not the least was the only character to be inducted, Lara Croft who joined the company of Mario, Link and Sonic.

The Walk of Game inductees said to be really proud of the honouring and appreciated the award voted by gamers and fans. Next year the Walk of Game will return, so vote your heroes and icons at WalkOfGame.com.
