Beatles to finally sell songs online

Beatles to finally sell songs online
The story of "The Beatles" is one of the greatest success stories in the recording industry's history. With millions of fans worldwide and continued demand for the music, the group's record company is about to finally sell music downloads. Neil Aspinall, managing director of Apple Corps, said that the company was digitally remastering the entire Beatles catalog, which will lead to the tracks being sold online. "I think it would be wrong to offer downloads of the old masters when I am making new masters," he said in a written statement.

"It would be better to wait and try to do them both simultaneously so that you then get the publicity of the new masters and the downloading, rather than just doing it ad hoc," he continued. His comments were confirmed by a spokeswoman for Apple Corps. The songs will be available through popular online music download services, but it's not clear when. "There's no firm date on any of this at the moment. There are a lot of projects that Apple are working on at the moment," the spokeswoman said.

Apple Corps sued Apple Computer Inc. for the use of an Apple logo on iTunes; an act which the record company claims breaches a 1991 agreement between both companies. A decision in that case is expected after Easter.

they're still full price because that's what the public is willing to pay. same goes for the price of any product.

and no, that's not what michael deserves. he deserves to be castrated with a rubber band and spatula, drawn and quartered, feed his own nipples, then lit ablaze while old men piss on him. but we don't allow that in this country anymore.

If only I was half wolf...

Well, if it makes it any better, it sounds as though Jacko has sold half of his share of Sony/ATV, so now Sony has a controlling 75% share of the publishing rights. I don't know which is worse, Jacko, the accused child molester, or Sony with complete disregard for digital rights... Would you like a rootkit with that?

Buy used CDs and rip them yourself. It will be cheaper and you will get better quality non-DRM crippled files.

Use LAME mp3 encoder w/Exact Audio Copy as front end.

Command line option for LAME "--preset standard"

    You'll like it.

Come on people, don't display your ignorance for all the world to see! Michael Jackson sold those rights back to Pauls and Yoke years ago. Get real.

Sorry to disagree with you. I've lived through/seen some amazing stuff. No thrill getting old- but beats the alternative. I hope you make it to the age where you too can have kids wonder if you can even see/much less use, any computer or software of the 'future'. Your comment was sort of disrespectful, if you 'get my drift' ;-)

I hate to disapoint you; but there are quite a few of us using iPods or other similar products/ripping DVD's with AnyDVD and other software/etc. I have some 5000 CD's from the beginning of CD's entering the market until now, that I've ripped/'shared'/etc.

    Hope you get my point-

Beatles are hand down the best. I have every album they made. And the Beatles will never have their music on iTunes, sorry for any that think they would. Apple Corps(Beatles) hates Apple Computers.

The Beatles aka Apple Corps doesn't actually hate Apple Computers, It's just that years ago they had a trade mark agreement between them that Apple Computers agreed that by being allowed to use the name Apple there would never be a conflict of interest, with Apple Computers agreeing to never enter the music business.. Of course computers have moved on a lot since then, but it does surprise me that Apple Computers have let it get to this point without doing something about the situation like maybe 5 years ago.. They can't say they are unaware of a trade mark agreement..
I don't like Apple Corp.. I think they only exist to bring legal actions against people and businesses but this time they are totally in the right to take action.. An agreement is an agreement..
