PlayStation Store not available everywhere

PlayStation Store not available everywhere
The PlayStation Store is billed as "an integrated and streamlined online storefront which allows all PS3 users to browse and download available entertainment content". However, Sony has confirmed that some PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait before they can get access to the store while other owners will not get access at all.

The Store allows users to purchase full games as well as download demos and HD game videos.

Since the European launch last week, many PS3 owners have complained that they cannot access the Store at all. These users come from Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Slovenia.

Sony's director of corporate communications had this to say:
"There are more than 102 territories in the region, and each Store has to be made unique for each territory due to different currencies and languages," he explained. "Stores will reach some territories in due course."

The director did explain that some countries would not be able to access the store at all due to a myriad of factors including a lack of broadband penetration. "The PS Store may not be accessible in Azerbaijan, for example," he explained.

For those countries that have to wait, Sony has not announced how long you will be waiting.

whatever for them. if you dont have broadband, you should not be buying a ps3. if your country does not have broadband, then you should have known this from the start. anything less than broadband is inferior.

Its pure economics...rich country..first to have the system...poor country..too fuking bad..boo hoo. You can't expect sony to put a language on the store when only 25 people in that country can afford the PS3 in the first place...I have a solution...learn a new language

^^^ agreed. more people need to know a common language if you're getting a worldwide product.

Because according to TIME's Almanac in 2001 here are the top 5 languages as of then:

    1. Mandarin Chinese: 885 million

    2. Spanish: 332 million

    3. English: 322 million

    4. Bengali: 189 million

    5. Hindi: 182 million

    :p

I wonder if members of a nation without access could sue Sony for false advertisement. ;)

    Peace

those numbers are misleading, considering a majority of the people speaking those launguages are in one area, not spread out. but i dont think china has the ps3 do they? they are communist. i see no blips of ps3's in china on the folding at home app.

Despite the "blame the user" rhetoric, lets look at fact MS had 5 years to polish the back bone of LIVE then add another 2 since the 360.

Sonys online was weak to start with then they were rushing the past 3 years to polish up the store and backbone at the same time, give it a bit of time Sonys online should come up like roses.

Much like the rest of the PS3 is horse sht now but in time a garden of ripe games and value will hopeful grow from it,all sony has to do is remember to water it and keep the dog poo out....

I live in Malta and have got the same problem.

We speak English as our second language here so not giving us access to the UK store is pretty darn stupid!

i live in costa rica.. and i had the same problem.. actually costa rica wasnt even listed at the country search, so i put in colombia.. i had the freaking message "you cant access the ps stor bcuz of yr region"

so i created another user and simply changed the region to us, postal code street address and it was done, i even bought stuff...
