Corel offers AACS patch and ultimatum: update or never watch HD again
Corel has introduced an AACS patch for their cracked InterVideo WinDVD software and according to Corel, "failure to apply the update will result in AACS-protected HD DVD and BD playback being disabled."

That means, either update, or never watch your High Def movies again. For added inconvinience, you have to track down and install the specific patch for your specific player.

What can we expect from Corel when this newest patch is cracked?

Um.......how can the program stop working just becasue you don't apply a patch?

Does that mean they knew this was coming and time-bombed the application?

Oh well, just grab a trial of AnyDVD HD, or just buy the awesome software, and it will do the trick.

not really; there's too many stupid people out there that can't believe they can go without. so, they let corporations that depend on them for survival and success rape their wallets.

the prog will stop working when newer hd dvds with different aacs security come out and you try to play them.

my question is what about stand alones? havent a few keys been recovered form those? if they tried to change the copy protection scheme them wouldnt these stand alones not work? those people would be pretty pissed because they adopted the technology first and dropped big money on those players.

not to be cold or indifferent, but that's the price you pay for adopting technology first. typically, those people have the money to blow, anyway.

I see this from a completely different angle. They need to fix this “upgrade” or loose me as a customer. It is actually a pretty simple solution for this.

Too many companies want my hard earned dollars already. The choice of where and how I spend my money will always lie with me no matter what any company brings to the table.
