Apple sells its 100 millionth iPod
Since its debut in November of 2001, Apple has released 10 variations of its market dominating portable media device, the iPod. Released in an unofficial sales figure, Apple says it has officially shipped its 100 millionth iPod and by which has reached a hefty milestone.

Shrugging off high profile competitors such as Microsoft with its Zune player as well as several third-party contenders, Apple has remained at the very top of the portable media food chain with a healthy and steady 70% market share. Their iTunes service boasts some 2.5 billion songs, 50 million television shows and over 1.3 million movies sold to further bolster their dominance.

With eager Apple fans awaiting the next product to drop from the lineup, the iPhone continues to generate media buzz. It is scheduled to be released 2 months from now with an expected price tag of $500 or $600.

Apple is only lucky because they got the consumers hooked with the iPod's ability to load a bunch of songs easily and take them around. Then, like Band-Aids, the consumers got the word "iPod" to replace (as Apple hoped) the word "MP3 player".

However, I am on my 2nd (and probably soon a would-be-third if it wasn't for Creative!) and my sister is on her 2nd. They don't last long enough and they are expensive as hell.

But yet, despite the iPod's success, Apple can't (and never will) convince PC users that Macs are better. You can't game on a Mac very easily from my experience. Get a decent priced Mac that can game and I am sure the amount of Mac's sold will increase 200%. :p

    Peace

I've had an iPod since 2002. Never had one issue with it. In fact, it's still going strong. You must not treat yours with enough care.

Plus, you can't really rate a computer by how well it can 'game'. If that's the case, then the new macs already win because they run Windows better than an actual PC. Games are not the end all and be all of how good a computer is. Sure, Windows might be better for games, but Macs are better for creativity (music, videos, web design, photos, etc). The graphic capability of a mac is far superior, which is why all major studios use them.
