Sony releases firmware updates for PSP and PS3

Sony releases firmware updates for PSP and PS3
With Sony's latest system update, released today, PlayStation 3 gamers will soon be able to download and play PSone titles on their new console.

The firmware update, to version 1.7, introduces new technology that which will enable the console to play PSone titles bought from the PlayStation Store. These titles were only currently playable on the PSP but that is set to change. Also included in the update is the ability for save data for the PSone to be used on the PSP, and improved support for vibration functions on older console peripherals, including the Logitech GT-Force Pro steering wheel.

The update is for all owners, including those in Europe which had not had the option to download any PSone titles until today.

Sony also released a firmware update for the PSP, version 3.40. A new security system will force PSP owners to upgrade to the new firmware update if they want to continue playing emulated PSone games on their handheld.

They didnt do this until now?

Buy a game once for the PSOne and then buy it again for the PSP/PS3? Yeah right, no way in hell. Can't wait till someone hacks the PS3 to allow .iso's to be mounted and played.

I dont blame all of d2d's pricing on them the publishers/devs have a hand in tooling with the price.

for me its simple a new game is 20-10 off no questions in 8-28 months its halved and left there for another 24 months then halved again and that is the price it can stay at until the game becomes 5 years old at that time its 5.99.

Of coarse look at where gaming is headed shallow games for shallow people much like hollywoods shallowitzing stuff in order to make it cheaper to make so the young will see it 3X instead of making it quality and having everyone buy it once, they also like their double profits and refuse to shape up,I bet in the next 10 years GS/EB will stop selling used games so they can push new games only.

EB/Gamestop will never stop selling used games the profit margin on used games is incredible not mention that they rob evreybody that trade in a game for their store credit.like this you buy a 60.00 360 game play it for 1 week beat it trade it in you get 25.00 max for that same game that is only a week old.and then they resell that game for 55.00 tell me do you think they would stop this form of highway robbery.i think not.and lets not even go there with the used consoles

well they stopped selling used PC games so its not to far fetched

saving room on not selling used games to sale over stock at cost then "used" games will be recert'd and sold like new or some corporate BS to double charge...I can see it happening since the death of retail used PC games.

pc and console games are not in same market whole different aninmal.the retail markup on a console game and a pc game where never the same.and they never will be trust me on that

Agreed. I think most VC games are overpriced by a few dollars.

Did I miss something? You don't have to buy that game twice... (Unless the PS3 doesn't support the original game, wich is very plausible with the European version... :( ) You can just go to PSStore or whatever it is and buy some games you're interested in and play them through an emulator in PS3, and you don't need the original disc for it. At least, that's how I understood it...

the retail end is losing a huge chunk of their profit by playing this game altho I guess its better than 45 for a set time of 18 months then 29 for 18 more months than 11 for the rest of its shelf life.

the new PS3s will offer 40-50% BWC
the old PC3s offer 70-80% BWC

but you have made a great point, dig distro lets people who lost or never had the old game to have it again.

To clarify something on the eb/gamestop used theory. I always buy used..even if its $55. The thing is, you can return it in a weeks time for a full refund when its Used. I know you may think you are getting ripped off on the new game trade ins.. do what I do. Wait a week or so , buy it used..beat it and take it back. No harm No foul.
