One millionth Zune is sold and Bach talks about Apple, Wi-Fi
When Microsoft began selling the Zune it had a target of one million sold by June 2007. According to Microsoft Entertainment head Robbie Bach, the company has beat their expectations and sold "a little over a million" of the 30GB players as May comes to a close.

Bach also said that the company hopes to expand the online Zune Marketplace and that after a few software upgrades the Wi-Fi on the Zune might be used for more than just Zune-to-Zune file sharing.

Furthermore, Bach said it was "fun" competing with Apple because the company is a very "worthy and skilled" competitor. Apple still holds an almost 70 percent market share with its iPod player and recently sold its 100 millionth unit.

I played with my brothers Zune and I think it's a very good music, video and picture player, but I'll wait till the price drops some more before I grab one. Now I'm just waiting on the usual Microsoft haters to start the bashing.

Ive been doing research here and there for the best music/video player with longest battery life and compatible with most formats and apple is pretty good.

The Zune isn't bad. I would still rather go with a Creative unit when my current iPod gives up the ghost. If the Zune-to-Zune sharing didn't involve placing restrictions on the music then I would think that the Zune's sold would probably almost double in sales.

    One thing to remember:

The iPod was one the easiest to use Hard-drive-based music players out which helped it take off. According to Wikipedia the iPod was originally released in October 2001.

The Zune, on the other hand, was released on November 14th 2006 well after the iPod already had a dominate grip on the MP3 market.

But, it only took Microsoft just over 6 months to sell 1 million Zunes despite the iPod's mega dominance and the other offerings from companies such as Creative doing well too.

    Peace

I would not mind getting my hands on a Zune player and messing around with it too see what all the fuss is about. I have an Ipod and its going swimmingly. But i also say creative is probably the best out there cause it does not have DRM and limitations in music file movement. Which is a big bonus :)

1 Million is still 1 Million, crap or not.

That being said, I'll stick with my Creative Zen Vision M and Vision W.
