Free iPhone unlock software released

Free iPhone unlock software released
A group of developers has followed up the release of the iPhoneSimFree software to retailers by offering another solution at a much more attractive price to an iPhone owner; completely free. The 6,458 bytes worth of data has been tested and confirmed working. With the recent $200 price cut from the 8GB iPhone and now unlocking software in the wild, Apple Inc. may be about to see a surge in orders.

While Apple might move quite a few more units from recent developments, AT&T Inc. may be a little bit more inclined to kick up a fuss. Up until now, the iPhone would only work if a customer subscribed to the AT&T network, but now unlocking software means it can be used with T-Mobile in the U.S. or with providers in different countries where it is not yet available.

Daeken, Darkmen, guest184, gray, iZsh, Nightwatch, pytey, roxfan, Sam, uns, Zappaz, and Zf are the nicknames of 12 hackers credited with the creation and release of the free unlocking software.

I'm sure this upsets AT&T, since they were supposed to have the iPhone as an exclusive. I bet Apple is not condoning use of this software... with a wild grin on their face while they sell even more phones and still rake in the incentives from their AT&T deal!

If I already have a plan with AT&T, and my phone has a sim card in it, If I get an Iphone and unlock it, will I be able to use the Iphone with my existing plan? If not, what else would I have to do?

Anybody know if I could do this?

I checked and the iphonesimfree software is not free. It costs $59.99. The iUnlock software is free but not so easy to run from what I read.

Joonbug: I think you could use your AT&T sim card from your current plan with the iPhone but if you don't have a data plan with your phone plan they will charge you extra for it if you access the internet from their network (not wifi). That's why all plans made for iPhone include unlimited data. Don't forget that the iPhone uses an html browser not wap so it will use much more data to access the webpages the same way you see them in your computer.
If I were you, I would call AT&T customer service just to be sure.

Thanks for the reply. I currently pay 19.99 per month for unlimited data for my Nokia E62. So it sounds like I may be good to go. My Nokia battery is starting to get bad on me, so I am close to getting a new phone. I usually dont get a new battery, I just upgrade my phone.

    You're welcome.

I think Apple cut $200 off the iPhone cause they probably want to sell more before coming out with the 3G version like they will release in Europe soon. I've never seen them drop their prices on anything they sell this fast. IMHO Edge is crap. lol

Freeware?! Wow! It kind of makes you wonder who's behind the development of this sowtware; they're certainly generous enough to share this S/W to everyone.

I found software that can unlock an iPhone for free. It's UnlockiPhoneFreeUse 0.1 beta
I saw very good feedbacks, but thre's a problem. I ordered it but they answered that they already have users with my mobile operator and now they can't give it to me. So, maybe someone have this software?

    Thank you

I see a lot of clowns in this area.

Does anyone know a good utility, self contained, without five or six seperate steps, without five or six seperate utilities, in a fully automatic GUI or script? Native English speaker preferred.

There is a lot of crap to wade through with these iPhone unlock programs. Looking for personal endorsements from the AD community on something trustworthy.

This guide is pretty good, however we have found people sometimes need extra assistance. Should you have any problems following free information there is a membership support service available for iphone unlockers. you can visit http://www.unlockiphone.com.au for more information.
