Xbox 360 Arcade bundle is finally official

Xbox 360 Arcade bundle is finally official
Although it has certainly been a poorly kept secret, Microsoft has finally officially announced the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle which will include a wireless controller, HDMI output and a 256MB memory card. The memory card is a necessity because the Arcade does not have an internal HDD.

Also included with the console are five games: Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition and Uno.

"As families gather together this holiday, it’s the perfect time to launch a new low-priced, high-value Xbox 360 that plays games, TV shows and music for everyone to enjoy,"
said Microsoft's Jeff Bell. "In addition to offering an incredible all-in-one package for families to get right into the fun, the Xbox 360 Arcade system features the industry-leading Family Settings, which allow parents to control what their kids are watching and playing -- and we know how important that control is to families around the world."

The new bundle will retail for $279.99 USD, the same price as the Core version of the system.

its not a bad deal all for 279.00 not bad.this would be great for someone who has a ps3 to make the jump to a 360.at that price the bundle is all good.trade in the memory card and get a few bucks off a used 20gig hd.

Build qaluity of the 360 is still relevant so their price of 250 with no HDD is to much, most of the live games are sold at 2X the price they should be and MS gets 50 a year for live, sorry MS can do better, if it comes with a free year of live gold then maybe its "ok".

For all the console/game fanboys out their.

    @Zippy

Im sorry to have to say this but your only saying that because you dont like xbox 360's. Ok fair enough thats your opinion but we dont need you telling us how bad the build quality is or how bad a price this is in every damnarticle about 360'.

And yes this is a good deal. Not too sure about US pricing but you can buy this in the UK and buy a harddrive with it and itl be the same price as a premium. So your getting 5 free XBLA games + a memory card unit (IMO much more portable than the harddrive)

you do realize with the 360 hardware issues its not that great a deal, the live games are a bit over priced so they can give them away, if they added free year of live premium it just might be worth it, but no the total is still 80$ to much.

Get a me 360 set with a free year of premium live and a HDD for under 300 and we have a deal until then tis over priced for a console.

the way is looking I guess I'll hold out until the HDVD enabled units are released..... before I buy in.

Zippy, You do realize that the cheapest PS3 is still $300 while it has NO HD quality and a 40 GB hard drive.
Now Xbox's have a proprietary hard drive (i.e. needs specialized parts). This package gives other cheap/poor bastards the ability to play on a Next gen platform, at a cheap price. this one also is only $10 - $15 dollars more than the Wii, and $20 less then the cheap-ass version of the PS3, and $225 less then the only good version of the PS3. Looking at the cost effectiveness you can clearly see it is better to by this, and spend $47.99 for a year of Xbox Live Gold, or you can still enjoy Silver (Which I doubt that you know that on Sat and Sun, you get to try out Gold, that's 104 days a year for the cheap bastards) and still enjoy yourself for less then any decent version then the PS3

Look at what you are getting its not that great a deal niether is the PS3 40GB uint,oh and the ONLY thing the 40GB unit is lacking is 2 USB ports and PS2 BWC it still retains all its Hdef features because its more a BR player than a game machine.

the 360 still has hardware issues this is automatically a minus of 50$ on the set price, the""extras" are just that extras they can give away because they need to sale more units.

Since MS can not fix the 360 is a set time period they need to lower the price by 50 across the board, they should stop making the 20GB HDD s altogether and focus on the 120gb HDDs for 80-99$ a pop,or hell at this point leave the prices as they are and unlock the goddamn USB pipes so people can freely transfer stuff to a USB drive, if they could do that then fck the hardware issues would be worth putting up with.

Hell the 360 mem card is the price of a 20GB HDD at least if MS didn't jack the price up,with MS's buying power they can easily offer the 20GB HDD in it without a loss.
as far as price V cost goes

    1.WII
    2.360 premium @ 300-400
    3.360 elite @ 400-450
    4.PS3 60GB @ 300-400
    5.PS3 40GB @ 300-400

Sorry if you think MS can do no wrong I think they can simply do better.

BTW I think the 360 is one of the 2 better new consoles(the PS3 could have been number 1 if sony was not sorting cocaine so a Xbox is better than it currently), but I don't want to spend more than 400 on it in a 3 year period so I will wait till the fixed HDVD enabled units roll out in 09.

For all the console/game fanboys out their.
