Indonesian authorities close digital download outlets
Indonesian authorities have closed several digital music download outlets after executing a series of raids around Jakarta. The action stemmed from evidence packages received from IFPI Asia Pacific and ASIRI, which represents the Indonesian recording industry. Two sophisticated illegal businesses that offered franchises specializing in the sale of copyright infringing music files were targeted.

They sold music files intended to be stored on mobile phones and other portable digital music-capable devices. Outlets like these are fairly widespread among Indonesian shopping malls. In the Jakarta area, officers targeted eight locations with raids believed to the tied to the two illegal operators, Download Mania and Download Station.

Among the locations raided was a main office where business records were held. So far the Indonesian authorizes have seized more than 60 computers, each holding an average of 28,000 illegal music files.

I'd like to read it.

Have you ever thought, seeing how it's so hard to get the government to step in and help with anything, that it really must be a big problem?

It seems to me that everone has jumped in bandwagon no matter where they are in the world. Sadly, other people in this world have other motives in life.

oh i dont have any links and stuff, what i know is just from discussions in my college classes, liiiike the tsunami (plus other early warning systems) will be in place sometime in 2008, its supposed to be really advanced, which is great, but the problem is they have no way to inform the public if they do detect a problem ahead of time, in my opinion (i could be wrong) they should worry more about putting a radio in the home of every citizen rather than worrying about the 'rights' of billion dollar companies. of course then theres politics which play a role in whos interests come first and all that..
sorry if i made my first comment seem like it was FACT, it was not my intention

I agree with sk8. These are guys and funds they could have been using elsewhere. It's easier to build something with ten hands than it is four. And it's not like the workers are playing Pokemon waiting for the structures they've worked with so much to evolve.

Piracy may be a big deal to some people, but it's time they just get over it. It's inevitable. They'd have to take away our brains before we stop being pirates.

Yes. Piracy is inevitable in indonesia.

They got raided maybe because the not give enough bribe to the police.
Usually the seller always alerted by the police at least a week before the 'sudden raid' lol.

Indonesia poeople earnings is very low. We are poor country.

Original music sold at about rp50000. About 6 USD.

Pirated music sold at about rp1000 to rp10000 per track.
But some sell it rp10000 for one mmc full song.

Original pc games /console games sold at about 60usd. And its very hard to find a store selling original disc.

    Dvd movies about 45usd.

All that expensive stuff make indonesian cant buy it.
Radio is already expensive for many of us.

We are poor, but we are human that need entertainment.

Btw the government and the system is just too corrupt.
I remember that when some place got disaster, the help always come late. The food the government give sometime are Expired!

Whoa! They giving expired food for their people!

This is no joke. Indonesia is sux.

I know, long time ago we are good country and fast advancing, but that because indonesia borrow a lot of money from IMF, japan, etc.
When the payback time come, indonesia go down to monetary crysis.

Long ago, when im still in elementary school. 1usd is rp2500. Now 1usd is rp10000 !

Here the sample of corruption here. PLN, a country owned company that monopoly electricity always said their revenue is minus.

Blackout here and there everyday. But pln also known as the best company in giving empoyer support.

Pln give insurance, hospital fee, hotel fee, transportation fee, retirement fee etc.

Many other company that have surplus revenue cant give something like pln did to their employee.

If pln really have minus revenue, how the hell they can give that many 'benefits' to their employee.

Wow. I got out of topic here :p

    Note. 1USD is about rp10000
