iPhone heading to Japan?

iPhone heading to Japan?
It appears that DoCoMo and Softbank, two of Japan's largest cell phone carriers, are vying for an exclusive Apple iPhone contract, but Apple's intense revenue sharing ideals seem to be holding off any progress.

These complaints are nothing new however. In France, carrier Orange and Apple had public disagreements over revenue sharing and other carriers in the US and Europe have complained as well. In China, both China Mobile and China Unicom dropped negotiations due to revenue sharing disputes.

To date, over 1.5 million phones have been sold and Apple has said it hopes to sell 10 million by the end of 2008.

Sources have explained that Apple is seeking a 10 percent cut on all data revenues, a figure neither DoCoMo or Softbank will accept. Despite these issues, Apple is "still confident that it will be able to find a partner in the country eventually."

Yes very nice....do you really think the iphone can compete with what they already have in JAPAN??? I don't really think so. And as for china? Common man my girlfriend got a i phone knock off from china and everybody who sees it loves it! she even got 10 other people she knows to buy the fake I phone. The point is what can Apple offer that local companies there cannot?

just make sure u get one that is either pre-unlocked at firmware 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 or one that is locked on 1.1.1 as you cannot unlock all the iphones on ebay (specifically those that come with 1.1.2 from the factory).

Same problem all around the world. Being exclusive like this is not going to get you anywhere. I wish apple would understand that fact. Revenue would be much more across the board if everyone was paying for their phone. Is not soo hard to figure out.
