PS3 update allows PSP remote play of PS One titles

PS3 update allows PSP remote play of PS One titles
Although unannounced by Sony, GamesIndustry.biz has found that the recent firmware updates for the PlayStation 3 and PSP will give gamers "the ability to remotely play any PS One game on the PSP handheld."

For the remote play to work, you will need PS3 firmware 2.10 and PSP firmware 3.80. Currently, only some PS One titles are available for sale via the PlayStation Store but the update will allow all titles to be played on the PSP using the PS3's remote connection.

GI.biz also says the updates "lets PS3 owners play purchased PS One titles remotely from the hard drive, rather than requiring them to be downloaded to a PSP memory stick."

Sony has yet to confirm.

So does that mean you have to be close to the PS3 for it to work? Or are they talking about downloading it (via bluetooth or something) from the ps3 to psp?

Now heres soemthign they could do with this, pay 5-10$ a month for a premium to PSN and let stream your media and PSX stuff from your PS3 to wifi spot across the net.

now theres innovation, hell I would pay 10-19$ to be able to do that with a cellphone!

ok let me explain this so its easier for you guys 2 understand. The ps3 can download psx games into it hdd or into the psp ms duo. with the new update you can play all the psx titles in your ps3 hdd anywhere with a wifi connection. the netwrk is free, the only thing you have to pay for is the games you download. Streaming the games via wifi is absolutely free.

But then how fast/slow is it? I would prefer it to be on the mem stick.

other MS models have better rates...

Ya! I look forward to re-buying all those ps1 games again, just to play them on the PSP.

And they wonder why people are firmware modding their PSP's.

Just another way to scam the mindless.

So the PS3 finally has a purpose.. to play PSOne games using the PSP.

Sony will probably go back into making PSone games so they can sell more hardware ;)

only trouble is you can only play half of the PSone titles because the PSP has a badly designed control layout.

does this render firmware mods and pandora's battery, etc. useless? by that i mean, do you only need to download image files from discs on a computer to your psp if you dont have a ps3, or is this some remote play, b.s; useless for anyone w/o a ps3?
