Vonage and AT&T settle over VoIP patents

Vonage and AT&T settle over VoIP patents
Vonage and AT&T have announced that they have settled their dispute over two alleged patent infringements by Vonage's voice-over-IP (VoIP) service.

Both companies declined to provide details of the agreement for the time being but the deal ends several weeks of negotiations.

The settlement would most likely include both a lump sum payout and royalties for the patents.

To date, Vonage has made similar deals with Sprint and Verizon, allowing the service to continue without significant modifications.

This is good news as far as I am concerned. 2 years on Vonage without a problem. Great service that I want to stay with. Hopefully no major changes except for the better. I realize lots of people hate/fear them. Beats the local phone co by a million though, and nothing like the crap tech originally under the VoIP umbrella.

May this lead to the rise of more VoIP services for competition.
