Microsoft to fight hard for European console market
During his keynote speech at this week's Gamefest UK event, David Gosen, Microsoft's VP of strategic marketing in Europe confirmed that his company will be investing heavily in the European market to make sure the Xbox 360 console becomes the "region's console of choice."

Gosen of course added that he believes the "Xbox is going to be the platform that wins this hardware generation," and that Europe was key.

"We're investing to win in Europe,"
he explained. "We can do better and we're incredibly well-placed to drive success in the region. We've got to make sure we tailor our resource needs to the games we are making."

A few of the company's plans including investing heavily in the Xbox Live's Marketplace and Arcade as well as external studio development.

"We're going to invest in more ways than we have before,"
Gosen noted.

x360 can penetrate japan with Namco's Tales of Vesperia, now if MS got games that Europe love, X360 will penetrate europe

What good is a xbox price drop if the motherboard goes to $hit 4 months later?

Was gonna get the Xflop 2 months ago for GTAIV and Mass Effect until I learned theyre on (or coming soon) to PC.

Lol...windsong, you have to see the irony in your post.

You wanted to buy one even if you think it is a piece of crap.

    :-)

David Gosen might be right. If Xbox keeps getting good exclusives and takes exclusive games from the PS3, the 360 might be the "winner". Of course this excludes the Wii...lol

This really isn't the case with the newer XBox 360s. While they have their share of problems, I won't deny it, that is the case with any hardware.

I have had mine for about two years now and it has never had any problems. Two of my friends bought 360s in the past 10 months and neither of them have had any problems either.

So, the 360 originally had lots of problems (RROD being the worst, but that was mainly due to Microsoft avoiding an ASIC vendor.) but its failure rate is at least under control now.

While I am not defending Microsoft, I think they should have done a better job to start with on the 360, I am simply trying to dispel the rumors that every 360 is going to fail in >6 months or worse.

    "region's console of choice."

360 barely is the console choice for the US, FGS.
They couldent even make Windows the OS of choice after almost 20years.

They are starting to shake IMO, EU is the last stand/chance actually to stay alive, if MS dont do something fast 360 will become a US only console.
    Japs they rather do harakiri,
and in Europe PS3 has outsold 360 in less than a year with 360 having a year head start and things after Life with PS3, Home and PlayTV will become even worst for 360 in EU.
Something else that may sound racist but is the truth, EU people doesnt like u.s.a staff in general.

Why should xbl be free???? it offers a billion times more content than the ps3 and the wii put together. the 360 has an insane library of demos, songs, movies,tv shows, fights and the ease of it to top it off. then theres the ps3 which has 1/10th the content and touts how it is free. its 4 jbc's a month so get the f over it.not even 4 jbcs considering when you get the 12month it comes with a free month anf if you get it on sale which it is several times throughout the year its 39.99 for 13months.people spend more on text messages, fast food, and stuff that they could care less about. but in this market its endless whining.wii...friend codes alone make it trash, ps3 is taking too long to get on its feet with home and demos being on par with the 360's library.

not too mention nintendo and sony live off their brand name as oppsoed to ms who is hated like noneother and most people think is a monoploy money grubbing company.

I seriously hear more idiot kiddies on XBL than I do on PSN. After a match on COD4 on XBL, the opposing team just talks trash and talk 'bout moms more often, same with halo... Even little 12yr olds spout sh*t.

With lousy technical support as well? Boy you sure are right Newb. I take it you work for them as well, or your spamming afterdawn by posting an Xbox Live infomercial.. good one.

I agree wholeheartedly with you bdoggie, but you shouldn't oppose people like that dude. That's not the right way to do it. But the xbox offers sweet games with a wide selection to choose from which is a plus, but I don't pay for Internet. If I paid for the game, I don't want to pay for online. thats just stupid, especially when PS3 offers it for free. But the dreaded RROD still is a problem in itself, which is why I won't buy an Xbox anytime soon.

I never had a problem with my Xbox (firt month it came out I bought one) and I will say again as I posted in other places, if 49.99 or 39.99/yr is too much for your budget then videgames shouldn't even be in your part of your expenses, period. Also, from what I've been reading you guys need a new argument because the RROD isn't an issue anymore. I'm sure someone will say it just happened to them and maybe it did but it's nothing like it was.

ugh... is the wannabe PC shitbox still alive? i thought it would be dead by now especially in EU where nobody gives a damn about it... MS wont be able to get anymore market share than the PS3 and the PS3 is one thing which is not bad but still cant catch up to the PC... in the end i would say

An XBOX-360 is an excuse for being broke...Say hello to the PC, the high priest of gaming!
