Man arrested over leaking Guns N' Roses songs
FBI agents have announced the arrest of a blogger whom they claim has been streaming songs from the still unreleased new Guns N' Roses album "Chinese Democracy."

27-year-old Kevin Cogill was arrested on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws. FBI agents say Coghill had nine unreleased Guns N' Roses songs on his site in June.

Although the songs were taken down later, Coghill was still arrested after admitting to posting the songs on his site.

"Chinese Democracy" was set for release in 1997 but has been delayed by the band time and time again over disputes with the lead singer.

This is stupid. Likely just publicity for this retarded album that no one even wants to hear about anymore.

Guns n Who ? Oh yeah , weren't they the ones produced by Harold Faltermeyer with that bloke off Beverley Hills Cop singing, Axel what-do-you-call-him ?

Are any of them still alive ? And if they are, are they securely wrapped up in the Cherry Valley Retirement Home for insane ex drug addicts ?

Wow alot of kids hating on guns and roses eh? I for one want to hear it, they were one of the better rock groups to come out of the 80's even if axel rose is an asshole. P2P and or torrents here I come, if they don't want to release it they're just giving people incentive to get it illegally.

I don't see what the big deal is. Guns and Roses are not even a relevant band anymore. Yes they were one of the big bands from the 80's but it's 08 now and I'm afraid time has passed them by. I had a chance to see them in concert when I was a kid and they were great but I have no desire to here there new stuff because it's only Axl now.

They pick one person to scare the others who upload. Still doesn't work. Chinese Democracy is available on many torrent sites.

For being an album that took 14 years to make it certainly isn't as great as it should be but I found a few good tunes on it none the less. And hey it was free so I ain't complaining. Pretty stupid of that blogger to to post that music on such a pbulic forum but I guess a thank you is in order for him willing to be that scapegoat for all of us.

Just found it on emule in archive.

In all fairness to GnR, it just isnt the same without Slash. Yeah, Axl can still sing, but he is a big time procrastinator and this cd will have to sell gazillions to make a profit.

Haha the first time this lame ass band played in ST. Louis they cancelled night of show because Axl was too drunk. The second time was the notorious camera incident at Riverport Amphitheater (Axl got his as kicked offstage then jumped back up on it and says "due to lame security we're out of here." No sooner was the sentence finished were all instruments being put away and members leaving the stage.

The people saying they just downloaded it and it's no good. That's not even the album, leaks have been out for years. You could have any version of the songs from 2001 to what just leaked. And what difference does it make if a band is "relevant"? I don't think Monet is relevant I think I'll just walk into a museum and take it. Yeah that makes sense.

And they don't care about Kevin, these were the first leaks that the band or management couldn't track down the source. And they know this source has access to high quality recent mixes. He wouldn't give up the source willingly so they are applying pressure. He gives up the source and I be this all goes away for him.

GnR was my childhood fav band. Then they faded away and I moved on. I lost complete interest when a guy with a bucket on his head started playing. Was that GnR? I don't even remember.

Yes, that was GnR.So does GnR have any kind of release out with Buckethead playing original songs besides this 11-year overdue project? Cus all I've heard him play were Slash's songs, which didn't really showcase any of his own talent or originality (although anyone who can emulate Slash should be considered incredible). If so, I just might give them a try again. They just looked like an oddball group, and Axel couldn't hold his old notes to the classics. Is Axel still a pasty-white, overweight little guy with cornrows? Not sure I can ever get over that image :P

Buckethead is an incredible guitar player. But of the videos I've seen of him playing GNR songs, he butchers it.

Guns and Roses isn't relevant because they are part of pop culture. Monet will always be relevant like Picasso,Da Vinci or Matisse. Anyways this guy didn't walk into Axl Rose's studio and leave with the masters. It's more like he walked into a museum and took a picture of a Monet, and then showed it to his friends.

And he did it right in front of the guy with the license to sell reproductions.

    Smart move.

But like I said, he gives up the source and he walks. Wait and see.

I just went to a website and saved a picture of the Mona Lisa. I'm sure there is somebody who holds that license to "sell reproductions" somewhere. However I didn't buy this nor did anybody attempt to sell it to me. It was made available to me to download print and hang on my wall for free. It's up to him if he wants to roll on his source. I hate it when the government squanders resources on things like this.

Why are they wasting tax payer money arresting this man? The time & money it costs to go after this man would be better spent going after rapists, child molesters, murderers, big drug traffickers, thieves that that steal your grandparents pensions, crooked politicians stealing from the tax payers, ect. need I go on.
