Hungry? Order Domino's through TiVo

Hungry? Order Domino's through TiVo
The popular DVR company TiVo has announced that it has teamed up with Domino's Pizza to allow subscribers to order pizza right from their TV sets, free of charge. (You will still have to pay for the food obviously).

"This is the first time in history that the 'on-demand' generation will be able to fully experience couch commerce by ordering pizza directly through their television set,"
said Rob Weisberg, vice president of precision and print marketing at Domino's.

Weisberg added that TiVo users will see a Domino's ad and be able to click on "I want it" from their TV remote.

Consumers can enter their delivery address as well as crust type and sauce through the TV and expect their food within 30 minutes.

Domino's added that subscribers can set up a user-name and password for Dominos.com and use it place orders faster.

Wow! My mind can't help but wonder about the potential to this type of e-commerce. Imagine this develops to the point of interactive advertising where you see an ad and with the click of a button your credit card is debited and the desired item is on it's way!

I'm assuming that anyone who can afford A tivo has internet access, which means they can simply order online... this means that tivo's banking on people being lazy enough to not want to get off the couch and visit dominos website or perhaps use that antiquated technology know as a phone?

I started ordering domino's online when they made it easier to build your own pizza and offered coupons/discounts that took place automatically. That's a much better alternative than having to read a promo code off a coupon that usually ends up getting buried in the mail drawer anyway. Also it seems that online orders take precedence over orders over the phone. There's a dominos a few miles from my house and I once had my order delivered in 12 minutes. I think most people are lazy enough as it is, what’s next are they going to emulsify your food and give you a complimentary feed bag you can strap to your face?

Who doesn't have a phone either by/near their couch/a cordless phone or even a cell phone (which is likely in their pocket). Talking to someone for like a minutes seems much easier than typing with a remote control, this is really down right retarded.

Online orders make sense since you have a keyboard to type with, which is fast, but scrolling through shit with TV remote, no thanks

Hmmmmmmm...............A sure-fire way to promote America getting even fatter-assed than we already are.

Nothing like coming home from sitting down all day to continue sitting down in front of the tube and ordering pizza. At least internet and phone book require work.

Not to worry. If most of the people with TiVo don't order Dominzo's pizza through it, then eventually they will discontinue that option of ordering pizza. The people have the power to make a difference, all they have to do is do nothing.

I doubt ordering pizza thorough TiVo vs Calling/Internet isn't really going to change the amount of exercise one gets. The problem is that more modern conveniences that were introduced into society many years ago has decreased the amount of physical work that is needed to be done. Conveniences such as cars (no need to walk/run), grocery stores (no longer need to grow you own food), dieting/weight loss pills, and such have all decreased the amount of necessary physical work we humans need to do. On top of that, there are those that take in more calories than one actually uses in a single day without exercising.

So in conclusion, I will contradict my original statement saying that yes, the TiVo/Dominos ad will increase the convenience to order food, for feeding people who don't really exercise as much and just adds onto all the other conveniences that are making use unhealthy or reducing the need for physical work to survive.

Well it really isn't any healthier if you pick up the phone for delivery, or if you walk a few feet to your car and drive there. The health issue is the dominoes, not how you get it. That said, I think it's a pretty good tactic for the company.
