Mozilla updates Firefox to address serious security bugs

Mozilla released an update to its popular web browser on Tuesday to address security flaws an attacker could utilize to run unauthorized software on a victims machine. Firefox 3.0.6 is available to download from AfterDawn now. The update also fixes a reported issue which caused parts of a screen to be improperly displayed after Firefox has been running for a long time. Other fixes include improved ability for scripted commands to work with plugins.

• Fixed several security issues.
• Fixed several stability issues.
• In previous versions of Firefox, some users experienced a problem where parts of the screen were not properly displaying after Firefox was open for long periods of time.
• Improved the ability for scripted commands to work properly with plugins. (bug 438830)
• Removed the client user ID from crash reports.
• Fixed issues with the display of some Indic scripts.

  This is great news for FF users. Way to go Mozilla! Fast responses to security problems for their browser is what keeps their valued users on FF. One the resasons why I love FF is because of this. Keep up the good work!!

  They still haven't fixed the problem with the YAHOO homepage. Those jerks randomly hi-jack users from Yahoo.com and switch them to m.yahoo.com. IE 7 has a place, where can put this pesky unwanted link into the red restricted sites box. It won't hi-jack me any more. ou can't permanently block a certain website with Firefox and be done with doing it forever...

  The only problem I see with this version is that it seems to be unstable. I have it on 3 machines and Firefox routinely crashes on all 3 of them. Haste makes waste.

  I've been having the same stability issues as well as the hijac problems for some time now. I'm personally going to wait a few more versions before jumping back is because I don't think they have ironed out all the bugs yet.
