The unit will be the 80GB model and will retail for $399 USD, the same price as the current 80GB unit by itself.
In 2007, Sony released a very similar bundle in Europe, except without Resistance.

meh! they should just lower the price already. That'd get them to sell even more.

I've heard about this story and there's also a story going around that Sony is planning to drop the price of the system to $299 next week on the eve of the GDC coming up. This story seems more likely to be true though since it costs them next to nothing to bundle the system with two greatest hits games.

One word describes this situtation very accurately, LOL

That's a cool idea. Grab the FPS crowd and the extreme sports crowd. Should be Pacific Rift instead, as that game is more polished, and you can get Motorstorm for less than $10 used. Good marketing though. IMO, offering Uncharted would be a better idea, but then again, from a strictly sales POV, there are more people into FPS's than anything these days.

Its probably coincidence, but the DLC for Resistance FOM is now free.

Its unlikely that people would have bought the packs what with R2 out now; they likely lowered the price so that the people who bought the bundle would get a better and more encouraging experience out of their 2 year old game.

I have to admit, I am a fan of the PS3 and recommend it highly to all my friends. I am NOT a crazed fan boy though. I can admit that the XBOX 360 is still pretty awesome though I refuse to own one on the principal that Micro$oft forced us Halo fans to upgrade an entire system to finish the game's storyline with Halo 3. The cost of the PS3 is still reasonable for what you get with the quality of games and the awesome native Blu-ray/HDMI capabilities. The biggest thing that Sony is lacking and missing the boat on is the support of the on line community. XBOX Live beats PS Net hands down and the lack of "trophies" & "achievements" is kind of a bum deal for most of the games but I just love the system.

:)
same could be said for nintendo, SMB1/2/3 NES, SMW SNES, SMW64 N64, etc etc.
it's just how it works :)
