Company unveils 103-inch, 1,100-pound plasma TV

Bang & Olufsen has announced the launch of a giant 103-inch plasma HDTV dubbed the BeoVision 4-103 which will weigh in at a shocking 1,100 pounds when combined with its stand.

The motorized stand reveals a large center channel speaker that is also motorized and the TV angle and rotation can be adjusted via a supplied remote control.



The company says the set uses B&O's BeoSystem 3 stage manager and VisionClear technology that does an auto-adjust of color and brightness levels every 120 hours the TV is in use.

The TV will hit Europe in July with a price of $137,000 USD that includes the free inclusion of the company's $5,377 BeoSound 5 home theater audio system and remote touchscreen remote control.

  I thought the whole point of LCD/plasma was to weigh less and look better......

  or you could go to an auction and buy a theater projector and save about $60,000.
  
  either way if your a movie star that can't get enough of yourself, you could buy one i suppose.
  
  its nice to see that in a difficult economy the Rich & obsessed still have products to blow there millions on as if there 2 McLaren's an 5 Humvees's weren't enough.

  It takes having the extreme enthusiast models being made first then us consumers will get something like ti for a 10th of the price in 5-10 years.

  I think I'll manage fine with my 32" flat screen crt. I really well never buy something like that, even with the money, there are cooler and more useful things to buy.

  What a waist of money. $1.3k for every inch of plamsa display?...If their going to charge that much at least make it an full HD LED/OLED LCD instead. Any buyer is going to be pretty angry when the see the heavy reflections bouncing off of this thing in the daytime.

  Hmm... I wonder if a smaller version of this will be available as an option in Audi's '09 line up. It would go great with the $6,300 sound system. I mean, its only money, right?
  
  Joking aside, that thing better have one hell of a picture for 137,000 dollars. I'd also hope it comes with a free pair of sunglasses. I have a 46" Samsung LCD that will perform LASIK if you don't fiddle with the brightness/contrast. Imagine what this thing could do if left to itself. But if anyone picks one of these up, give me a call.

  Good luck taking that in to get repaired. I love my plasma but still do not trust this technology enough to fork out that kind of dough...I spose if I had a few extra $million sitting around it would be similar to my situation of purchasing a sub $1000 plasma.

  For a fraction of the price you could get a projector mounted on the ceiling that will do TWICE that screen size!

  hmm thats definitly a rich person toy. u can't get that into your average persons home unless they have a sliding glass door or i you bought that TV first then built ur HOUSE around it. lol
  
  and 103 inches. @ 1080p the pixels must be the size of Pennies. no thanks lol
  
  i'll stick with normal sized TVs for us poor people yanno 32 to 52 inchers
