Netflix denies PS3, Wii support rumors

Netflix denies PS3, Wii support rumors
Netflix has squashed a recent rumor that it will become available on the PlayStation 3 and Wii consoles. Netflix is already available on the Xbox 360 console and has been very successful, with Microsoft boasting that over 1 million users have watched 1.5 billion minutes of video through the service since it became available in November 2008.

"For now, Netflix streaming on game consoles is exclusively on the Xbox 360 - and it's a terrific hit," Netflix vice president of corporate communications Steve Swasey told GamesIndustry.biz. He did not rule out possibly moving to other consoles in the future however. "Netflix is always looking for ways to grow the service," he said.

Rumors began circulating earlier this week, due to a job listing made by Netflix seeking an engineering leader for gaming platforms. It asked that the candidate have, "years of experience both building and leading the development of games on the current generation gaming consoles," to, "expect to help build a small technology team to rapidly prototype and iterate on a variety of platforms."

    *deeeeeeep sigh*...

What's the use of denying it, if they'll end up making it available in a few months...ALL companies do the same crap: rumors spread, company denies, rumor ends up being true and the company emerges as Messiah....It's disgusting actually...Anyway, I personally find absolutely NO need for Netflix....on 360, on Wii, on TV or anywhere...

What a pain in the ***...When I signed up for netflix, I could stream it to my PS3. Then they stopped that, then we think they are bringing it back, then they say no! Next it will be streaming, then they will kill it again. It is amazing how much DRM netflix uses considering they they ship DVDs and Blu-Ray movies that are basicly unprotected.
