Xbox Live to get Twitter and Facebook soon

Xbox Live to get Twitter and Facebook soon
According to Microsoft marketing executive James Halton, XBL users will soon have access to Facebook and Twitter via their Xbox 360s "before Christmas," in line with expectations.

"A lot of the background work's been done for a lot of the applications that are coming,"
says Halton, via Eurogamer. "It will be before Christmas."

The exec did rule out that the services could be integrated into the upcoming August dashboard update, but said they would be available afterwards, and separately.

The functionality was first showed off at the E3 event earlier this year.

Says GI.biz, "the services will enable users to link Xbox Live friends with their Facebook profiles, share photos ad status updates and capture in-game moments to upload instantly to a Facebook application."

Probably because some whiny company like Opera would sue them for anti-competive behavior because the browser would be at least based off of IE.

I know, all these stupid crappy 2% market share browsers are jealous of IE market share so they bring up crap to feel good about themselves.

And the more people that spend $, the more games and shit we gonna get, so in the long run, as lame ass as this is *or is that sore ass?* for those that don't want to use the tools, don't; and reep the glories of continued 3rd Party titles that continue to dominate on the 360 this generation of gaming.

Well if it's about controlling content then they should go back to the cartridge system because once you have a usb or a cd/dvd rom involved someone will build a piece of home brew or some thing close to add content like the browser it will come but it'll be a yahoo type not some open source like fire fox some people welcome those who use their concells on the net for browsing they must pay a nice chunk of change just to be on line so hey Microsoft wake up people are asking for something better you get the lead out before all those with Xbox360's buy a PS3 or god forbid a cell phone with all that all ready and waiting ... like an Apple or Blackberry ....

And the vast majority would rather pay for it in the most convenient manner possible(buy it from live/walmart) than have to do it themselves.

So they(and sony and nin to a lesser/greater existent) have developed a content system that maximizes in funneling drool.

*yawn* .. twatter and fuglybbook.. like we care. Every 360 owner will have a pc.. what a waste of time *sigh* .. Are people so sad as to be fooled by this garbage.. I mean really...

Trouble with the 360 is this... The pirates learned how to play their burned games first this time.. so the FOSS people pushed it aside because we don't like to be associated with pirate scum (sic.. look who's talking) That means no unsigned code and no kernel hacks.. and why I have never bought one........

Zippy your right, but really if its a except-able content or app.that everyone wants why not give it to them what about service after the sale see they are dropping the ball by not making their browser available to the masses because those people will get a phone that can surf the web and twitter and myspace facebook and so on.... but microsoft could be selling more online time by offering the web to those people who want it... just a thought...

Scratching over the malware forums it looks like most people want to pay for chocolate fireguards because they get them bundled for a 30 day trial..

I think you might know more about the drooling masses than Miss Linux here...... do you run any quality free AV apps?

should run tripwire and clamav .. better detection than any of those hopeless lumps of junk put together.. especially on a bastille hardened os.

Anyway.. back to the topic (hazelnut in every bite.. squirrel s**t!!)

Who needs twitter.. honestly.. I don't care if last nights curry burns as bad coming out as it did going in.. or more so because last night you had drunk 4,000 lagers.. or if your cat doesn't like whiskas.. one of the 20% who prefer Lesley Judd perhaps?.. and as for facebook.. WTF.. who needs that when you have... http://www.trannyinternational.com/paula_p

seriously.. like they think this will sell their faulty rrod lump of unreliable junk where a better selection of non pre-pubescent wannabe war hero games won't?
Where are the quality driving sims.. and the flying sims.. sorry people.. same old boring shoot em up junk as is on all the other consoles.. 4/10 for hardware.. -17/10 for games..., and it is a GAMES CONSOLE.. isn't it?? not a psuedo paid account web browser or phone substitute???? I can browse the web with a pentium75 quite nicely thanks.. don't need a live gamers account or a 360 (with no keyboard either) to do that.

So why are they bothering with this crap then? .. Surely better games and exclusives would move more units?

I truly wish that they would stop trying to make consoles media centers. If the twitter and facebook extensions are optional I will not get them to my 360 for sure.

    Class. Absolute class.

I recently traded my PS3 for a 360 mainly so I could flash it and get free games because they ain't worth my granny's left tit anymore. Don't care about Quote:twatter and fuglybbook or n00btube. Give me some decent games or offer opportunities to install Linux (fat chance, we might like it too bloody much) and if M$ think I'm going to pay 60 smackers for an Wee-Fee adapter they can fuck off. I'll drill a few holes in the wall and get good, RELIABLE ethernet cable thankyou very goddamn much. Everything Microsoft makes seems to be junk. I have to medicate Windows Shitsta every day just to make it go at a reasonable speed, The DVD drive of my 360 ate my freinds copy of GTAIV which I was borrowing, now I have to find the non-existant money to replace it and now I have to hope and pray to god that my 360 doesn't RROD so I don't have to repair it because a certain money grabbing company can't do their jobs properly. So yeah, I should have stuck with the PS3 with less exclusives, but better wear and tear value and better media handling all round. Thank god I'm getting the family media center pc in my room with a hd gfx so I can connect it to my HDTV and my Surround Sound system.

    Ok, who wants spongecake?
