250GB Slim PS3 bundles to cost £299.99, says retail source

250GB Slim PS3 bundles to cost £299.99, says retail source
Last week we reported that sources were claiming a 250GB model of the new Slim PS3 was "a definite by October," and a source speaking to EuroGamer today seems to corroborate that report.

The 250GB model, says the source, will come in three separate bundles, with the first being released in the UK in late October.

The first will be an Uncharted 2 bundle, which will be released when the game is released, on October 23rd. The second, in Spain, will be released with FIFA 10. The last will include wither Assassin's Creed 2 or GT5, neither of which will be released until late November.

The bundles in the UK will cost £299.99.

Sony declined to comment on speculation.

Now thats a smart counter by Sony's PS3 250GB "Super Slim" against Microsoft's Xbox 360 250GB "Super Elite" !!! Now MS will be wondering OMG......... What in the green hell we do now ?

I am sure this will make MS to think about Rumoured Super Elite's Price !!

Regardless of price, a PS3+GT5 bundle will blow any console out of the water lol

Or God of War 3, can't wait for that :)

Note they only give GBP cost, which seems odd since Sony normally only gives Euro/US$/Yen MSRPs.

And no, canuckerz, there will be NO difference other than HD size.

The most interesting part of this rumor to me is the mention of GT5 in November. Earlier this year I heard it wasn't coming until 2010 but if it actually comes this year then Sony has a legitimate shot at outselling the Wii this holiday season.

It will probably be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show in a few weeks as that's the last big event before the holidays.

I think it's going to be the exact same system, just with a bigger HDD, like the last 80GB and 160GB bundle pair.

I only meant the 250GB model/bundle(s) would likely be mentioned at the show...GT5 probably only if it's DEFINITELY gonna be out for the holidays.

Actualy poloyphony digital (the branch of sony that is making GT5) did release an official release date of 05/05/2010...but that does not mean it won't be released early.

so it's the console which costs £250 in the UK + £50 for the game wtf when were games prices jacked up to £50 each again?

personally i'd purchase the console and wait a month for the price of the software to drop to £25 via gameplay

uncharted 2 is only £37.99 via gameplay on pre order & £40 retail.

Do you think an exclusive will drop that much? I don't know anything about Gameplay. Just curious how the prices fluctuate across the pond. The really great and much anticipated exclusives sold used generally hold close to retail. I remember Uncharted 1 was still going for about $45 used even after a year. I saw a few "deals" for less, but they had minor wear, no booklet, or nothing but a worn disc.

These games are definitely console pushers. Decipering ££ to $$ always confuses me though, no matter how many times I've googled conversions :(

NFS also bugs the hell out of me, but I'm not gearhead enough to enjoy a racing sim like GT5. Collin McRae has always been a happy medium for me :)

Too much of an arcade influence for it to be accurate handling and too much sim influence for it to be an arcade style racer. I like it one way or another, when its in the middle I find it just feels like a really crappy driving sim that the developers put zero effort into the car's handing.

If anyone's waiting for the bundle, I recommend you getting Uncharted 2.

I'm in the early demo (public beta) and considering that it's pretty limited, it's one of the best game I've played on my PS3.

    Co-op...

Sony have just had a setback with the public flogging of the PS3 & Sony's customer service & repair policy, on the BBC's prime time consumer programme Watchdog in the UK.

Sony public relations or, professional liars, or damage control have been quick to respond but the damage may already be done, if you system fails after a year you are charged in excess of £120 to be given a refurbished unit that then only has 3 months guarantee, people don't like these tactics.

Name ANY other console EVER sold that has MORE than a 1 year warranty BESIDES the Xbox 360...You can't. Because that is the Industry STANDARD ~ 1 Year. MS only offered that "warranty" as a preemptive ploy to avoid what would have been the industry's BIGGEST recall/lawsuit EVER.

Fun fact ~ did you know that MS originally only offered a 90 day warranty (not the industry standard) with the 360 because they EXPECTED problems because of the rushed development of the 360. Now you know and knowing is half the battle!

What I do find funny is how you failed to mention how from that same Watchdog program the amount of YLOD PS3's at being only One half of One percent or 0.5% (NOT 5%) which equates to just 12,500 out of 2.5 MILLION sold in the UK. Quite different to the estimates of the 360's problems with RROD, Disc Scratching, E74 and so forth.

Anyone who would like the read the actual letter from Sony to the program can check it out here in it's entirety ~ http://www.gmrfm.com/home/2009/9/17/sony...s-watchdog.html

Read it and you will understand how the Watchdog program did nothing more than make their show for ratings or something else...Oh and here's another little fun fact for those who may not know ~ their "correspondent" Iain Lee is employed by Microsoft (they actually say it in the beginning of the "report") but here is some extra Proof just in case. Amazingly odd isn't it...

And for those who want to read even a little bit more, have at these ~

wow i, mean wow, LETS ALL USE CAPS that violate the rules then go on some childish rant.

now if you'd actually bothered to read my post i stated.

now did i state that this was fact NO i stated they had some bad press on prime time TV on the nations most watched consumer programme.

the more time i see your posts the more i believe you are ever a teenage fanboy, or in the employ of sony, either way you are not fit for the role you play on afterdawn.

you are a very sad person. why not try to read posts instead of seeing red every time someone writes a bad line about your beloved sony, & if you cant keep your bias opinions to yourself try NOT POSTING in news threads.

the last time someone went on a rant like you they were banned by you, hypocrite ah you must be Sony PR...

#1 ~ Posting in all caps is a violation of forum rules. Not a few key words within a post. What I posted was definitely NOT a "rant". Don't try and tell me the rules, or profess about them. Because you sure as hell clearly don't know them that well, and it shows.

#2 ~ YOU are the one who posted an off topic comment about the BBC watchdog program in THIS news, I elaborated on that to show the FULL story. Not just what YOU wanted to show about it.

#3 ~ YOU also somehow think it is okay for you to go off topic but when someone else corrects YOUR off topic information, they can't and are violating forums rules...but at the same time you are not? And you call me a hypocrite?

#4 ~ Which brings me to that. Not only do you go off on a tangent (instead of answering the questions brought up/commented) but you try to insult me on top of all of it.

#5 ~ Out of principle you will get 2 days off because you couldn't adhere to the forum rules.

Next time just conversate and don't take it to a personal level. Simple as that.
