Unboxing the Zune HD media player and Zune software 4.0

Today we will unbox the new launched Microsoft Zune HD media player as well as review the brand new Zune software, version 4. We will go through all the aspects of the player and the software and its tight integration. The player marks the third hardware revision of the Zune line, and by far its best. The player notably features a beautiful OLED touchscreen, HD radio, the NVIDIA Tegra HD video playback engine and Wi-Fi sync.

The first page will review the new Zune 4 software, with the subsequent pages reviewing the actual player. Feel free to start on whichever page you want. We will also compare the hardware and software to the market leader, the iPod Touch.

Thanks so much for the wonderful review! I do have few questions if you don't mind...

    1. How about checking e-mails? On the Touch, you can setup your e-mail accounts and passwords, does the Zune HD offer something like that? Being able to glance new e-mails in a minute is very handy...

    2. How about language supports? On the Touch, you can select as many language you like, does the Zune HD offers something like that? This is especially important for Japanese, Korean and Chinese texts, since they're a lot easier to write with finger than pressing buttons...

    thanks!

Hey Gnawnivek, there is no email support, and no app coming, which is a bummer. For languages, all I can see on this Zune HD is English, Spanish and French.

ddp, posting the questions here in News comments is fine for this review and future reviews and guides on the site, discretion of the writers. Thanks.

Wow very nice I would have never considered the Zune prior but this thing is impressive and not badly priced from what I've seen on the news.

Excellent job on the article Andre I'm sure this took you a bit to pull it all together as you have, great job once again.

Nice review. Nice price and look, and that OLED screen looks gorgeous. Zune software 4 does look a lot nicer than itunes. I don't like that it's a bit thicker than the touch, but I might not mind picking on up if it comes to Canada.

Nice review. I think the Zune's App store has great potential especially since they're supposed to be free but I can't see that staying that way in the future.
