Gran Turismo 5 is dated for Japan
At the Tokyo game show press conference on Wednesday, Gran Turismo producer Kaz Yamauchi jumped on stage to give out new details on the anticipated PlayStation 3 (PS3) title. The biggest detail by far of course was the announcement of a March 2010 launch of the title in Japan. Unfortunately, it was not clear whether other regions would have to wait until later, or if it would be a worldwide release.

Gran Turismo 5 was originally speculated to ship in 2009. Kaz revealed that the game will include an impressive 950 cars to choose from (including all the newest hybrid and electric cars), along with 20 courses with 70 variations. A new physics system is included with car damage features and movable objects on the track.

Game modes include single player, split screen, two player arcade and GT Mode. In GT Mode there is a world map, My Garage, Car Dealer, Tuning Ship, Championship Race and License Test. An online replay album is also features, with the ability to export replays to YouTube. Text and voice chat is also included in online features, along with a photo album.

finally it gets a solid date, 950 cars sounds like an awful lot of cars, i hope the 20 courses are more than just 10 with reverse runs.

It is also quite safe to believe that there will be much more tracks by release since it is estimated that GT5 is only 65% done.

How many of those 950 cars are drivable?

  • KillerBug

If it is anything like GT4, all the cars are driveable, and most are raceable. The only thing is that some models might account for 10-20 of that 950 car number...on GT4, different years of the same body style/specs cars were counted as different cars...so cars like the Skyline ended up being 30 cars while having only a few body styles.

So much for the theory that there would be a GT5 PS3 bundle available by Xmas.

Is it too much to ask to have the Long Beacgh Ca. track included just once??? after all it was a F1 track and has been a road course for indy cars and le mans cars for 30 + years !!

Are you serious? 20+ Tracks? For 950 cars, what a crock! Buy a Xbox, get Forza 3; 100 tracks, better online, and only a 54% console fail rate. What? I played the GT5 Prologue, the physics and throttle control edited by moderator. Maybe the full game will be better, either way I will be busy playing the edited by moderator out of Forza 3. Ha KEEOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
