On trial was the royalty payments of 93 songs that Apple has been selling on iTunes for four years now, thanks to an agreement with mentor Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records. Eight Mile Style claimed copyright infringement however and was seeking $16.58 million in backpay and damages.
Neither Eminem nor Dre were named in the case and neither appeared in court.
The terms were not disclosed but it seems as though Eight Mile Style received less then it hoped for after damaging evidence came out during the trial. Apple revealed that Eight Mile Style had been making 9.1 cents per download since the tracks became available, adding up to "a lot of money," over time.
