The Pirate Bay headed for Ukraine

The Pirate Bay headed for Ukraine
In late summer, Sweden ordered that the web host to the public torrent tracker The Pirate Bay take down the site, which they did. Within the day however, the site had moved to a different host, which received the same order.

This week however, according to TorrentFreak, the Pirate Bay has moved to the Ukraine, leaving Sweden for good.

The rumor comes from "Patrik" of the torrent tracker's former ISP, which was forced to drop support of the site after repeated threats from the media industry.

Earlier this year, the semi-private tracker Demonoid moved to the Ukraine as well, however users have reported lots of downtime with the Ukrainian hosting.

This will be the final nail in the coffin for TPB - only those who have been hounded out of every other country on the planet would choose the Ukraine as a host - they have the worst server networks in Europe.
It will only take about 200 members being online at the same time to bring the site down due to poor infrastructure and network latency and time outs in that country, their server will be overloaded with logjammed sql queries within 5 minutes.
What happened to the global network spread across the planet that TPB used to boast about , ready to spring into action if they were ever forced out of Sweden ?

the question isnt about the move but will they be able to continue to run the site as they have always done , they could have moved toan aribic state to get around us and eourpean laws if they wanted to or move it to a south american country its more like catch us if you can hey next we'll hear that they are headed to nigeria (where the real pirites live) its starting to be like wheres waldo..tpb hasnt had the pull over the last few years as those who havent hit the radar of the riaa or other goverment orgs. its not long before those who have the keys to their kingdom will wish someone else had them and not to mention the list of those ip address of those who if only to look at what is offered on the site will get the attention of unwanted snoops like the riaa and others its sad that google and others can offer to find downloadable movies music and programs for free and they dont get slammed with the same type of issues that the boys from tpb have good luck to them but considering the amount of people watching thier site i'm amazed they have any traffic at all

The Ukraine was a godsend for Demonoid, despite the hosting issues. There are still some serious limitations with the networks over there, but they will not be forced to upgrade the equipment, as the extreme loads will effectivly dissable civilian internet access if they do not. This may actualy keep TPB alive for years to come.

Knew PB wouldn't be going anywhere, the people that run it are in for the long haul. They wont give up so easily. The idiot lawyers that keep attacking PB don't understand that some people have already backed up pirate bays torrents. So even if they get it shut down six more will take its place.

TPB is a great site because of it's interface. The comments section is great.

I like the plan! Unless, now with 2 of the big three in the Ukraine maybe the media companies will pay of those politicians and eliminate the Ukraine as a safe haven.
