Watch out iPhone, the Motorola Droid is coming

The headline is what Motorola and Verizon wants consumers to think as the companies prepare to launch the Android-based anti-iPhone, the Motorola Droid.

BoyGeniusReport had a hands-on with an "almost final" version of the phone, running Android 2.0, and the editor seemed very impressed by the phone, even claiming it "is the most impressive phone we�ve used since the iPhone."

The device will have a 3.7-inch screen, run a TI OMAP3430 processor, a full slide-out QWERTY keypad, and a 5MP camera. BGR also says that Google had direct involvement with the design of the phone, "something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made when designing and making the phone."

Damn this phone sucks!!! The iphone is a million times better. How is verizon going to compete against the iphone with this piece of sh!t?

wow, you need to be suspended. Come on buddy, how rude is that. Can anyone say apple fanboy? ha ha. I like at&t's phone service as much as the next guy but I hate the iPhone becaus eof what it can't do. This phone looks very impressive, too bad at&t has to have that damn iphone.

Due to my hands tendency to sweat even when I'm just texting or typing on a keyboard in a calm fashion I LOVE that they are including QWERTY keyboards still because it's a pain to constantly be cleaning the touchscreen.

The Motorola Droid doesn't look half bad in my opinion. I'd wait for a few reviews before picking one up though.

Also, a huge reason for the iPhone's popularity is because of the "app store". Android has one as well, called the Android Market, and I believe since Verizon is getting a few Android phones this will really help Android compete with the iPhone's dominance.

And everyone who wants a phone that can do stuff, just the average person I'm talking about, they all want the iphone first. I believe that most people that will go for these 'iphone killers' will just be previous iphone owners once their contracts go up.

Myself being the owner of two iphones, I can say that I really need a switch -__- but there just aren't many phones that can do what the iphone can AND what others can. So until then I'll stick with it. But I've really been looking at the Sony Erricson Satio, but I've been waiting for the US release, but it doesn't look like it'll be coming here lol.

Pardon me if i find statements like "this ____(insert product here)_____sucks!" to be far less effective than actually providing some sort of educational reasoning as to why you believe that.

like my predecessor i think thats great marketing with that ad but theres one thing that almost all "iphone killers" lack and only one that i know of that has it, which is my absolute favorite ability: the multi touch feature. you see a gazillion touch phones that are supposed to compete with the iphone but none have that amazing ability none but HTC with touch-flow. which is why i simply adore the TOUCH HD with the touchflo 3D and think that despite its age (2 years i think) its still the best phone to compete with it. i currently have a touch diamond which has gotten old..and i want to switch to another phone tha has multi touch ability but im finding that very hard to find except the damned iphone which for me spells laying down freedom and turning into one of apples many "yes men". "were not going to let you have flash 10 on your internet, only flash apps that we give you"

"your only going to download apps that we approve first hand giving you a choice ony from what we choose to give"
"yes sir" and so on..
give me a good multi touch phone with a nice memory and processor, a flash,a good sized screen maybe a qwerty and any sily OS you choose (except symbian..yikes) and ill be happy

Why does this phone suck so much? Because of the slide out keyboard? The 5MP camera?

I haven't used Android yet but a friend of mine says it's pretty bad ass.
