Amazon drops price of International Kindle already
Just two weeks ago Amazon took the popular Kindle e-reader international, with a $279 USD price tag, making the device available in over 100 countries. The price of the US-only version was dropped to $259 USD from $300.

Today, following the recent release of the Barnes & Noble Nook, Amazon has dropped the price of the international version and merged sales with the US version, selling both hand-in-hand for $259.

Amazon is refunding the $20 to everyone who purchased the International Kindle since its release.

The dual-screen Nook will sell for $259 as well.

Competition is getting intense :) We now have Sony, Amazon and B&N. Of course, it's not the same thing as game consoles, books are books, they don't look better or read better on the different e-readers. So what's the meaning of all the different e-readers really? It's not like the Kindle's e-book will work on the Sony's e-reader... The competition will make the e-readers cheapers, but not the book :(

It's all about the books really... Sony's e-book library is the most pricey at the moment. Kindle e-book prices are lower, i don't know about the Nook's...

Imagine this scenario, grandma buys her kid an e-book and her kid tells her "it won't work on my Nook grandma!" Grandma sighs and almost died of stroke when she realizes that she can't exchange the e-book...
