Xbox Live Gold free for the weekend

Xbox Live Gold free for the weekend
Microsoft is starting a promotion this weekend for Xbox Live Silver members, giving them full Gold services, for free, allowing for online gameplay and full access to downloadable content.

A Gold subscription normally costs $50 (or less with discounts) per year and is necessary to play games online as well as access Netflix streaming. Silver members are given nothing but gamer profiles and friends lists.

For the weekend however, all silver members will be given Gold access, in the hopes that they will eventually sign up as a Gold subscriber.

The promotion goes live in the United States and Canada on November 20th at 12:00PM ET / 9:00AM PT until November 23rd at the same time.

In Europe, the promotion goes live from November 25th to November 30th.

At least you can get to play. What if they didn't do it at all?

That's strange. New Xboxes allow you to create up to 4 accounts, all of which will eligible for a free month of LIVE.

OR they're just taunting as many people as possible to come online for a couple days so they can get more needed info from your machine to ban the ones they missed. .27 of free gold = banned system for Microsoft and another new 360 sold. Cha Ching

Only reason I have a 360 is for the left 4 dead series sad that a company in my own state *coughs* valve will not distribute games on ps3! In my opinion Playstation 3 is a way better system!

In my opinion Playstation 3 is a way better system!I was going to buy one for the GTA DLCs, but I figured that would be like paying microsoft $360 for a console and account, just because they publicly bribed Rockstar to not make a PS3 release...and that would be wrong. I'll have to wait until someone cracks the 360's OS so I can install it on an old PC...and even then I am not going to get xbox live.

This is really starting to get embarrassing. Not only is the PS3 and Wii free to play online, even handhelds like the PSP and NDS offer free online play through their sister consoles.

I'm amazed so many customers keep paying these annual fees for something that should've been free from the get-go.

I heard that Sony will be introducing a paid online experience, don't rep that free point too much.
