RIM, Motorola sued over visual voicemail

RIM, Motorola sued over visual voicemail
RIM, maker of the BlackBerry smartphone line, and Motorola have been sued this week by Klausner Technologies over alleged violations in regards to patents for visual voicemail.

Visual voicemail has become the new standard for smartphones because its lets users visually see their voicemails without having to call a number and use a series a dialpad touches to listen or delete said messages.

In regards to Motorola, Klausner says the visual voicemail application used on the Cliq Android phone is unlicensed despite the fact that all other Motorola phones using visual voicemail have licenses from Klausner.

For RIM, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is under fire, despite other BB models having licensed visual voicemail from Klausner.

Klausner has already settled with Apple and AT&T over the same issue sued Cisco and Avaya in August.

Now that the iPhone crowd is looking at the world around them, including other devices, we are seeing a lot of lame jokes like that.

Honestly I wish that companies like Klausner would stop moaning like a baby over their precious patents. Seems like everytime you turn around, Apple, Microsoft, Pystar, RIM (and that's to just name a few are getting sued over some little piddly crap. I grow tired of companies bullying other companies just because one said this or did this to their product and didn't like what they were doing with it. They all need to just grow up instead of crying and sucking their thumbs like a 2-year old would. Just my opinion, but isn't anyone elese tired of this BS? It's an insult when they don't use common sense and decency in this world. - BLUEBOY

Actually, I'm sure this company IS getting paid by Motorola, but this company probably wants MORE money because they're running the software on a different platform. They just want more cash for no extra work.

I don't know what RIM's problem is, though...they have enough money that I don't know why they'd expose themselves to this kind of liability...if the claims are true.
