Amazon has slashed the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade to $180, a $20 price cut.
Additionally, a Xbox Live 12-Month Gold Card was dropped to $40, down from $50.

amazon sometimes drops the live price to around 35.00. You just have to look everyday :P

Wow...that puts the price of an Elite at less than $200 if you figure the price of the games, the giftcard, and the extra controller. I guess Xbox360 is now slightly cheaper than PS3...at least for the first year.

I doubt they'll let you apply the gift card to the current purchase so the only way to say it's $50 off is if you sold that Gift Card to someone for face value. If you use it to buy something else, that doesn't change the fact that you laid out $345 for the system... which is $45 more than a PS3.
On top of that the bundled games are Lego Batman and a mediocre racer and you didn't get a free Blu-Ray Player like the PS3 "bundle" includes.
$20 off the Arcade is a good deal though. That legitimately lowers the price you have to pay to own the system and play games. You could take that extra $120 and buy some games that are actually good or at least games that you want.
