Verizon service headed to iPad, says source

Verizon service headed to iPad, says source
Apple is still working with Verizon on an iPad model that will support Verizon's 3G service says Fox News, citing a source within Verizon.

Earlier this week Fox News reported that AT&T had outbid Verizon and therefore will be the carrier of choice at launch in March. AT&T had not ironed out a deal until six days before the iPad launch event on January 27th, says the report.

Following Fox's note, a few Wall Street firms predicted that a Verizon deal would be signed by the end of 2010. Some say Apple will announce a new iPhone and an iPad, both with Verizon support at June's WWDC event.

Seeing that this source is from Fox News, I wouldn't bet on what they say entirely until there's confirmed answers from well-known sources, such as WSJ or NYT. Until then, it's anybody's guess. However, it would be nice if this was true though, since Verizon's network is a hell of a lot better than the competition as a whole, IMO. - BLUEBOY

Ignoring the moronic comments about Fox News...

No matter what service it is on, the iPhone is still highly overrated and extremely overpriced. Get something halfway decent, Verizon!

Yeah, knee jerk reactions, even when it has nothing to do with politics. Isn't that called Prejudice? <g>

Back OT, I know several friends that are waiting to get a new phone until the iPhone is available on Verizon. I hope that summer date is true.

Whats with the gay porn reference xnonsuchx? You must know more about that than the rest of us. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Never trust anything Fox news says...they are not just biassed against the democrats, they are also biassed against the competition of their sponsors, and they fail to do disclosure statements on the articles related to themselves and their advertisers. Oh, and their debates are fixed, usualy featuring a republican vs a republican, or a republican vs a total psycopath that thinks alliens are watching him.

Is there any unbiased News media anymore? There isn't in America anyways.

Didn't mean to nearly copy your line wabashman, must have been posting at near the same time.

Yes, even if there was a network without bias, there would still be personal biases among the reporters. However, good news networks such as PBS and BBC will at least tell you when they have a conflict of interest in a story, and their debates are between people who do not agree on the matter being debated. Oh, and Fox news is the only network that actualy claims to be "Fair and Ballanced"...they lie to you before they even start the show!

I have to concur with those who suggest taking FOX News as a source of information with a grain of salt. It isn't known for its veracity. If you're looking for honest conservative news try the former Jim Lehrer news hour now just the online news hour. It's biased free from either left or right influences.

Quote:Ignoring the moronic comments about Fox News.FOX News doesn't need any help with moronic comments, it's the basis of their entire news programing.

Quote:Yeah, knee jerk reactions, even when it has nothing to do with politics. Isn't that called Prejudice? No, prejudice has absolutely nothing to do with criticizing a news organization. If you want to know what real prejudice is just listen to FOX's news content and you will hear it.

i love when people say Obama is bad. I'd rather have some one at least trying to turn us around then W continuing to pile drive our country into insurmountable debt. You show me one man that can fix what bush did in 4 years or less and ill show you proof of god. Back to the topic though. Fox News is a joke whether your right or left, but shows like Bill O'Rielly are great because half the time i dont even think he believes what he says. The true enemy is Nancy Grace. She is so f'ed in the head. I really hope she is just an act. Sylvia Brown is another some one needs to off. Oh and the iphone is awesome. i love mine and ill love it more when people jump to verizon and take some of the load off at&ts network. not to mention verizon should have a lower monthly bill and at&t would most likely follow to stay competative.

Whats funny is that everyone is bashing AT&T over their network, but where I live, I never have problems with the network with my iPhone. If thats the case, then why is Apple staying with AT&T? Not only that, the new Dell Mini 5 will be coming to AT&T (can't wait for that!). Why not Verizon? And now AT&T will be allowing the Sling Media application to run on their 3g network. AT&T is finally doing the things they need to do to make it a better company. I do not believe that the iPad is coming to Verizon, nor the iPhone, nor the Mini 5 or any other upcoming next thing. Verizon, you might supposedly have the best 3g market, but its too bad that there isn't anything that you have that would pull me away from AT&T.

Most Liberals are against Fox News for it's fair & balanced style of reporting news. Which in many cases is in direct opposition to the Liberal agenda.

Getting the discussion back to the original topic, if true it could explain the extra 30 day wait for the version supporting a cell phone carrier. Since AT&T and Verizon use two different standards, if the decision was made just six days before the announcement Apple would need extra time to actually manufacture the ones with the proper carrier support, and they would have had to do two designs in parallel before the product announcement. Seems like a waste of money to me unless it gave Jobs a huge bargaining advantage with the carriers.

Did the demo models shown at the unveiling only run on WiFi?

Its amazing that people still think a choice between only two puppets for big money is still a choice. Yes I know this was off topic, just couldn't help myself.

In the end, Obama ends up being a politician. He'll say whatever, do whatever to gain power. And worst of all, he's Harry Reid's boy (no pun intended)...he'll do whatever Harry says.

Mrwirez is uninformed; obviously biased. Fox News is the only place to go for straight talk. Oh wait, perhaps we should go the Obama Network, MSNBC ... or maybe CNN. Oh yeah, those are real trusted news sources. Ha!
