"Blu-ray 3D ready (with firmware update available this summer)"

By that criteria, the PS3 would be the first 3D player they made...it is just as capable with a firmware update, and it has beena arround for years.

Can't help to think that 3D is going to fail.

    iPhone remote?
Am I missing something? Doesn't it come with it's OWN remote?
Was there a huge demand from iPhone users to be able to watch Blu-Ray movies while playing games on their iphone? Must be for the same people who insist on chating on their iphones while at the movies?

"iPhone remote" is not a feature for me. It's bandwagon garbage add-ons that are not required in a Blu-ray player and will constantly request that you upgrade your firmware to keep up with future useless features.
Sony should focus on making the BEST, reliable Blu-ray Players. Selling Blu-ray disks is their bread & butter high margin products. Selling iPhone features is Apple's business.

3D is fantastic............at the IMAX only, and once in a while, but at home. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. It's a fad, gimmick and expensive. 200 for the 3D blu-ray players but what about the 2400 dollar 52" LCD I just bought. I'm sure as HELL not going out to buy another one just for 3D. Everyone will need a 3D tv to play those discs.

It really does piss me off when companies capitalise on ANYTHING just for the sake of a small percentage of population buying into it. I hope every last 3D manufacturer (of anything) sinks because of this.

I could be wrong but the great thing about most blu-ray players is that the the firmware can be updated so Im sure most will get the 3D update so you want have to go out and buy a new one. Also I remember reading somewhere that 120Hz tv will play 3D as that is the bare minimum

Close but I don't beleive so. 120Hz is MANDATORY for 3D but a firmware update to my TV won't allow me to watch 3D. Everyone needs a 3D capable television plus a 3D player plus glasses. It's a scam and MARK MY WORDS........this will never ever ever take off.
