TV shows to cost $1 for iPad owners through iTunes?
The Financial Times is reporting today that Apple has negotiated with content providers to sell standard definition TV shows for $1 an episode, 50 percent cheaper than usual, when the iPad launches.

High definition media will likely remain the same price, although that is still unclear.

It is also unclear what shows will cost $1, and how widespread the availability of the episodes are.

Additionally, the same report is saying that Apple has so far not given up on the idea of an iTunes subscription model, which would cost $30-a-month for unlimited TV episodes.

Everyone thinks its "cool" to make fun of what they don't understand. This device has more potential than anything on the market today and nobody even notices. Even self-proclaimed "experts" are making fun of it because they probably still own a Windows PC. IF they weren't soo busy trying to get rid of viruses, they might have some time to realize how great this device will be for the consumer.

1$ for a T.V. episode is cheaper than most shows on the PSN or Xbox LIVE marketplace. Not that I would even watch a TV show on one of those devices if I had something with the sleek form factor of an iPad sitting right in front of me.

It's convenient and its portable. People just LOVE hating on devices they can't afford.

LOL and no no. we hate devices that cost way to much and underperform by miles. many a netbook based tablets are coming out, lots with badaboom, that can run a FULL OS, ie windows 7 (which was made for touch screens as part of its core (well on tops of vistas core lol)) that can multitask with ease, download movies/prgrams with HDDs, not SSDs, you know the mechanical kind, the slower ones with a shed load more storage, (isnt that jsut perfect for TV programs BTW). it can play flash, and look, resolutions that actually matter, (ie widescreen).

Wow, do you get off every time you touch your toy?(talking about the super crAple gadgets here!) I can just picture someone like you just sitting there before going to bed and shining off their pretty screen that's slapped on top of some useless piece of junk, like an iPad.

Sorry...I am speechless on this one...

Just so you can crawl in a ball under your sheets, hugging your useless toy and cry, here's something "real", with real features, using a real OS, and capable of doing all the awesome stuff that your toy is not, like HDMI out, USB connection, camera, Flash support...(thanks scum!!):

I think people, most marginally intelligent people anyway, are done renting their media. People are sick of having to use DRM-tunes to move or use "their" media.
I actually think apple makes descent hardware, its their DRM laden software like drm-tunes that is the deal breaker for me.
Anytime a device that I buy forces me to use one piece of software to move or use media that I own, its not a device for me.
Now maybe I'm completely wrong. Maybe the Ipad has drag and drop support, maybe you don't even have to use itunes to place files or media on it. If that's the case, I'll pick one up when the outdated hardware comes down to a realistic price.

I'll only agree on the linked product because it has a Linux version. Don't care for Windows.

but thats been as closed as the iphone/pad OS.

i like all 3 (mac windows and linux) but i have to say if WebOS (by plam, fully based of linux) was introduced onto a tablet, we wouldnt need another tablet.

Oh thats right. Because its not an actual OS you cannot automatically put your normal downloaded (not from iTunes) TV shows on the tablet and instantly watch them.

    Have fun with that. :)

It soo cute to see everyone defend Windows.

Everyone who doesn't agree with the iPad doesn't have to buy it. In fact you may not buy it out of principle but you will want it the entire time. It's not fair to yourself to deny a revolution based on some sort of e-principle that you so desperately try to uphold.

This device will do great things for the mobile market. Especially in terms of mobile gaming. I've been working on a piece for SPAM removed. The real time strategy games are what I'm looking forward to the most. The accelerometer built in is going to be a cinch to use. Especially with the comfortable and ergonomic square shaped screen.

The iPhone has already proved the gaming applications for this advice. This is going to be amazing.

I don't condone Piracy but I am not gonna pay money for TV Shows on iTunes when I am paying money for a Cable Subscription, and own a video capture device that captures straight to iPod format.

D/Ling tv shows from torrents is not piracy. It was distributed originally free (over the air or via cable) and should be taken for free. No one truly keeps those episodes anyway.

I agree with you. I don't believe in rampant piracy but I do get flicks from torrents that I may watch again but not enough to merit purchase. I have a collection of a couple hundred DVDs/Blu-rays and just bought Indep Day, Reign of Fire on Blu-ray. I defnitely buy and contribute and I don't upload my downloaded movies/songs AFTER fully downloaded.

As for music..........the world would be better off taking my approach. Artists make money on the concerts. PERIOD. Their little 7 cent/album cut is meaningless and I don't care about grabbing a song here and there (literally) I download maybe 1 album a year and 15 songs.

The important thing is that people like you and I contribute back.............not like most of the leeching degenerates on this site saying "Hollywood crap this and that"

If the Ipad can play flash, there is no need to purchase any episode. You could just watch it from hulu or other websites that play shows for free. But apple like to squeeze every dollar they can from their consumers.
