Sony admits PSP Go 'confused' buyers

Sony admits PSP Go 'confused' buyers
Sony America publisher relations senior VP Rob Dyer has admitted this week that the PSP Go handheld "confused" buyers, and that sales have struggled.

Acknowledging another long-time criticism, Dyer says the expensive $250 price has not helped sales any, with the cheaper PSP-3000 model handily outselling its newer brother.

"Yeah, I think the higher price point didn't help matters any,"
Dyer said, via IpodNN.

Since the release of the PSP Go, Sony has done nothing but lose market share to the DS/DSi, and even the iPod Touch, which are cheaper and have big fan bases.

I don't think 'confused' is the right word.

This was bound to fail from the first time I saw the specs, how do you want people top upgrade and not be able to play any of their old games???? Why would I want a smaller screen? Why would I want a smaller slimmer model when the model before already gave my hands cramps like a hour into playing a game? I the decision not to add another analog is what really throw me FAR off the boat because playing first person shooters on the psp using the buttons as the second analog is pure S**t and when hard to do and clumsy.

Sony made a stupid mistake with this one maybe next time they would follow what the consumers have to say.

That's Sony big problem, They never listen to their customers. Sony believes what ever they produce, people will buy. Thats why my next TV will be a Samsung most likely.

for me the major problem is the price of the games, i mean come on they are saving not only materials and packaging, but also commissions to the stores ie walmart, and gamestop. if they would have released these machines which are very pocket friendly and lowered the price of the download versions of the game to say 19.99 LBP versus 39.99 for the umd this units sales would go through the ruff.

Were they thinking a more expensive price tag would help? The only redeeming quality I see in the Go is the bluetooth.

Well not listening to customers is a good way to kick you out of the competition. I dunno if Sony will be tackling a next gen hand held. Should be interesting...

Like half the things sony dose this was half assed you want to go UDMless what you do is put a UDM ripper in box, the DRM system places one set of DRM on it and then you use your PSN account to finilze it and bam you have your game in digital format.

Then after a few years remove that step from it, but no that wanted everything from the start and instead of working with the consumer that crapped on them......

AFAIK, the PSPGo is more or less the first PSP ever, except with larger RAM, unremovable battery, no UMD slot and a built in 64GB MS.

Sorry, but my 8GB iPod Touch can give way more fun than a PSP.

The PSP-3000 is the way to go.

i think the funny thing is that sony stole ideas from the mod scene, they made the psp run without umd years ago.

It just makes it even easier that they generally offer an inferior and over priced product too.
